Ch. 1: Space Oddity

It was a night like any other on Aegis, the city was abuzz with activity and the barracks of the Equalizer facility were full of sleeping G3's, all exhausted from the day's training; that is except for Damien. Unlike the others, Damien's view of why he was created always kept him up late into the night. His desire to be his own being, unbound by the restraints of his creation, often made him seem like a lesser version of the Sinner to some. But he is no radical, he is just a teen looking for real meaning in life and tonight he was going to take control of his own destiny. When the time was right, he gathered some personal items and got out of the barracks and broke into the armory. He found a helmet that suited him and in the private lab of one of the Master Smiths, he found the Cerberus Killer gauntlets and promptly took them. It was around then that the night watchmen noticed his absence and an alarm was sounded. In desperation to escape, Damien opened an undirected rift into the multiverse and jumped through, having no idea where he would end up.

  When he arrived on the other side, he was in a sunlit forest. The air was cooler, the gravity much weaker than home and the scenery was breathtaking. "Well now, ain't this just pretty." He said to himself while he took in the view. He decided to indulge in some human music that he collected in his down time back home. Right now he goes with one of his favorites;

The music played out loud through his gauntlet and he danced his way through the forest, not a care in the world. Nearby however, a rather nasty creature hears the music and moves in to investigate this potential prey. In the other direction, a group of teens on a training exercise hear the music as well and go to investigate. As the song ends, Damien turns around to see the beast.

  Damien is not very phased by the wolf-like creature as the Tar Beasts back home were much more intimidating. "So I'm gonna have to ask you to not attack me right now, 'cause I'm in a very good mood and you doing that would kinda bring me down a bit." He said, jokingly. The beast lunged at him, at the same time the group of teens arrived to see the attack. Damien, oblivious to the onlookers, uses the blade configuration on his gauntlets to slice the beast to ribbons. "And that was for not being very nice." He said to the shredded remains mockingly. Then his HUD detected nearby movement and turned to face it. That is when he saw the group. "Uhh...Hi?" He said cautiously. A beautiful girl with yellow hair stepped forward. "What was that?" She asked with surprise. "What was what?" He replied, genuinely unsure of what she meant. "You were blasting music in a Grimm invested forest!" She yelled. "Was there a question in there or was that just a statement of amazement?" Damien replied, not sure what else to say.

  "Look buddy, everyone around here is trying as hard as possible to complete this initiation mission with as little Grimm interaction as possible and you are apparently trying to do the opposite, so who are you and why would you do that?" Thinking quickly, Damien used telepathy to attain some useful knowledge from this girl with golden hair, he had to be quick since he probably looked pretty stupid just standing there and not saying anything. "Well first off, my name is Damien and I'm a transfer student to Beacon Academy. As for my jam session there, I just know I'm good enough to deal with these beasties." The girl seemed hesitant of his answer but ultimately accepted it. "Well then, Damien, I'm Yang and these are my friends. Blake, Weiss, and my sister Ruby." Yang introduces, pointing to each person as she mentioned their name. "Hi." Damien greeted the others along with a small wave. "So, if you're a new student, why are you all the way out here blasting music in the first place?" Yang questioned. "Aside from "because I can", I was running late to the starting area, slept in, so I decided to blast some tunes to get people to come to me and you know the rest." He explained. "So since you're here, how about I join you?"
