We walked in to the apartment and I started working on dinner as I looked at the counter at the opened mail and sighed I was supposed to get my letter two days ago on Thursday, then there was a knock at the door while I saw Franky zoom by screaming “I’ll get it” Franky was mid getting ready for something “Ernie come over here I have a surprise for you” said Franky in the small room, I turned everything off and walked over, and to my surprise Franky was sitting with familiar faces, our friends from home: Brianna, Jessee, Rosie, and Aj with a cake that read congratulations on it, screaming a collective “surprise!”

“What’s all this?” I asked not knowing what the hell was going on but happy to see all of them in the same room hugging all of them one by one, Franky held an open letter in his hand from NIC “ I accidentally opened it and read it thinking it was a bill” he said

I took the letter and read the letter “Dear Mr. Pruneda……. Pleased to inform you that you passed you qualification test ….. Official Interpreter well see you in a week to place you with a client, Holy shit I Passed!” I said throwing my hands in the air “I AM THE MASTER COMANDER!” my friends laughing and jumping up and down all dressed up “so get ready were going clubbing” Franky said lasing up his shoes  I gave him a smug look,

“I thought we were too poor to go out” I said running to my room to get dressed to get ready for a night out.

Tonight’s going to be fun out with the gang, going to do shot and all around tomfoolery I can’t wait I thought to myself as I finished getting ready walked down the hall to the small room where everyone was doing some last touches on their outfits

“Okay ready to go, wait where are we going and what about my tacos?” I asked mostly concerned about the tacos.

“Just put them in the microwave and well eat them when we get back and were going to that club next to work” Franky said adjusting his bow tie

“Oh my god guys this is like our first time going out I’m so excited,” said Jessee while playing her 3ds “well go after I’m done” not even looking up.

After a few minutes I locked up the apartment and we walked down the road and then some, Jessee was right this was the first time we’ve ever been to a club; sure we’ve been to a few raves but nothing like a club, well their first time I’ve been to a club in Fresno before , it was shitty . but we were here it’s not like we can quit now. We walked up to the bouncer who just looked at us if we were lost.

“Get lost we’re not open to minors today” said the scary bouncer in a ticked off voice, it was clear he was not in the mood for any bullshit today, Jessee moved up to the guard and said

“but were not minors were all twenty-four” in the nieces voice possible it was fairly common for us to be mistaken for minors a few years ago but now it’s really an inconvenience,

“Speak for your self bitch I’m only twenty-three” Franky said, he was the youngest in the group and it was never really a problem until that one time we went to Las Vegas and all he did was stay in the room because he wasn’t allowed in to the bars.

The guard not really believing us looked Franky in the eye and looked down at the rest of us and said “let me see some ID then.” And with the years of practice we developed a system; Rosie pulled out her wallet and we all individually picked our cards one by one and presented them to the guard, he gave them the once over and begrudgingly let out a sigh,

“All right you guys check out but if I catch you doing any funny business your out,” He seemed genuinely upset he had to let us in the club we single filled and  walked in one by one retrieving back our IDs and Jessee stuck her tongue at him, thankfully he didn’t even see her

The club was just how you’d imagine it, loud music, sweaty people, and overpriced drinks but that didn’t stop us from having a good time as soon as we walked on to the dance floor we started dancing, but we each had a signature move, Franky could pass off as a go-go boy, Rosie did “The Rosie” which was walking back and forth at the same pace as the song, Aj was a raver so she wiped out her glow sticks and had at it, Jessee tried twerking, Bri did her Mariah Carry in the booth dance, while I did my Awkward Snake dance witch was moving my hips in small circles and swerved around, all was fine and dandy until Bri caught the eyes of unwanted suitors which happened a lot it was mostly attributed from her boobs, she was very blessed, but for her it was mostly a cures, she gave us The Look, which meant to preform operation bubble, my back agents hers Jessee in her front and Rosie, Aj, and Franky formed a triangle around us, the ultimate defense system. After a while we needed a break so we took to an open table and sat around it.

“Are you having fun Ernie?” Rosie asked me from across the table with a smile while she pulled out her handy iPod, more than likely seeing if his place had Wi-Fi, I love the girl deeply but sometimes she was to attached to her tech,

“Yeah but there’s so many people I’m a bit warm.” I said checking my own phone; I hadn’t even noticed I had a massage.

‘Hey it Morris from restaurant found your number in food box, wonder meet for drink soon?’

Aww how sweet he found my number, I replied back

‘Sure you pick time and place I will message you back when I get home have a good night.’

And sure enough as I looked up everyone was staring right at me, all of them looking so sly with their stupid smug faces, “what?” I asked a bit embarrassed,

“Ernie… who are you texting that has you smiling like that?” said Aj, scooting closer to me. I looked her straight in the eye and said without missing a beat I told her the same thing I’ve told her since it happened on that one day,

“Bitch you already stole one man, I’m not letting it happen again” Aj looking mortified and said

“Oh my god that was one time on accident” one time we were at a rave and she distracted the guy I wanted to dance with for so long he had to move on with his friends before I got a chance to say “let’s dance”  and I never forgot. Everyone let out a collective laugh and we continued dancing the night away.
