The slender fingers of Rekha Singh typed furiously on the keyboard. She was researching on ghosts and how to handle them and was surprised to find out that there were good and bad ghosts. Those that scared the hell out of someone and those that simply embraced you and treated you like a friend.
Now she didn't know how to classify Vicki's ghost--for that is the conclusion Rekha had come to.That her ex best friend was lingering about and introducing Rekha to things that were against nature.
Could she classify what used to be a violent but loving friend as a nice ghost, helping a great deal in three different encounters?Or simply fix her in the dangerous, angry and violent ones and wait for her real intentions to reveal themselves.According to the article she had googled,a roaming ghost meant an unsettled dead soul.In short, either it wanted the one it's haunting to fix something. The other type meant the ghost itself was after fixing a mistake that maybe it did and that left it wandering and hurting. The latter tend to be the friendly ones looking for a platform to mend their mistakes.
Now if she weighed those two findings, her mind was getting jumbled up even more.Remembering that cold, fateful night,Rekha had practically hidden and whimpered from a distance as the inhuman wolf pushed Vicki's body around like a ball.Had it not been for that guy fully dressed in black, including a black mask, intervention;she too would be some gone story. But what surprised her more, was the fact that after the wolf had turned away and padded towards that direction, she had read something close to remorsefulness in between those eyes.
She had quite a relationship with animals back then and once or twice, she could point out the displayed emotions on their faces right. But turning to the article, she recalled looking back to where Vicki's body had been previously lying and found nothing.Just that nauseating pool of now totally deoxygenated blood,an evidence that her body had been there.
She had then heard a hurting cough, before some huge thud on the ground.Running towards the noise, she secured the parameter but couldn't see anything around except that the last drop was right before her and then nothing.Totally nothing.
"There is nothing like good ghosts, they are all disastrous."There was a fumbling of keys and the hazel eyes looked up at Mrs Smith. The old lady dropped the keys inside her purse and collected her jacket."Seems like your prince charming isn't coming to pick you up today."
It had been three days since she started working on the animal shelter and so far everything was productive. Most of the volunteers had learned to communicate with the sick animals who in turn had adjusted to their love and care.
Today,it seemed Thomas wasn't coming to pick her up.It was past 8.00pm but that bank manager's blue marbles weren't anywhere to be seen.Work ended at 7.00 pm and so she had settled next to a sleeping Greenes and those little cuties. With Mrs Smith busying herself with her accounts,Rekha had resorted to googling about her current paranoia.
Things were so strange of late and the twenty five year old Indian was considering going back to California,or worse leaving for her motherland back in Asia.
"Let me wait a little longer."Rekha put her cellphone into sleep mode and placed it next to her purse on the table. She could hear some noises coming from the small kitchen, probably those seven volunteers going about their businesses."The others are still around?"
"Yeah."Mrs Smith turned towards her."But they'll be leaving in a few leaving behind the two night shift volunteers and you too should. This town becomes quite inhabitable at night. The howling of wolves, injured animals and..."The old lady unplugged her cellphone from the charger and wrapped up the black chord."I suggest you let Martin drop you off as he promised."
Martin was one of the volunteers,a high school teenager who had a soft spot for animals and really insisted on dropping her girlfriend, who was a volunteer here and Rekha;for the two lived merely two blocks away from each other. But she just wanted to wait for Thomas and suppress the bad feeling that something wrong was ongoing.
