Rapunzel.

Suddenly, an idea formed in my head. Grabbing the staff, I rolled in my hands.

Would I be able to do it?

Clenching my jaw, I positioned myself right in front of the cocoon.

"It's not going to work, you know." a voice said.

"Jack?"

The ice retracted, and a pained look appeared on his face.

"Only a spirit can do it."

"What's a spirit?"

"I'll explain on the way. It's time for a little field trip."

Jack stood up, an ominous look on his face as ice curled around his body as a sort of armour. Grabbing his staff, he held out his hand to me, but then pulled it back, the same way he did when we first met.

"Just use the staff and follow me." He said through gritted teeth.

Holding the staff, I followed him out the window, not quite sure what was happening. I bit my lip, shivering. Whatever happened, Jack was upset, and when you get an upset Jack, you have trouble.

After flying for a few minutes we ended up landing on the roof of a pretty golden palace, and were greeted by a flying woman that has feathers and wings.

"Jack! Long time no see. What can I do for you and your pearly white teeth?"

"We need a snow globe. Pronto. I need to speak with the big man."

The room of flittering fairies fell into silence.
The woman gasped. "But it's not even winter yet! And who's this you've got with you?"

"Rapunzel." I said, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. Suddenly, the woman shot forward and opened my mouth, inspecting my teeth.

"She's a good one, you can trust her." I stared at her and took a small step back.

"Oh, sorry! Jack warned me about doing that with strangers. Anyway, I'm the Tooth Fairy, but you can call me Tooth. You're gonna need a shorter name, Rapunzel. The big man usually wants to be as casual as possible. Do you have a nickname?"

I shook my head, but Jack gave me a small, but meaningful smile. "What about Punzie?"

"Punzie....I like it!" Tooth anounced, opening a cupboard full of snow globes. "Why do you want to talk to him anyway?" She asked, flitting around as she ordered smaller 'fairies' to do some jobs while she was gone.

Jack stayed silent. Tooth sent a questioning look in my direction, and I just shrugged. Sighing, she whispered something into the snow globe and smashed it on the floor. I gasped as a whirlpool of colour appeared.

"What....is that?" I breathed, my fingers itching for my paints.

"It's a snow globe portal. Takes you places fast. To be honest, I like flying better." Jack said, intertwining our hands. "It's always worst when it's your first go."

"Just hold your breath and close your eyes; that ALWAYS makes it better." Tooth said, flying into the portal.

"On the count of three. One, Two-"

Jack pulled me into the portal at two, and I closed my eyes as a sick feeling appeared in my stomach.

"Remind me to never let you count down again." I muttered to Jack, bumping his shoulder with my own.

Instead, he just laughed tensely. pulling me deeper into the building before us. I could see he was trying to stay cheerful, but something told me that this was just a calm before the storm.
