Road trip (Reader x Avengers)

“I win again!” boasted Peter as he flicked your white chess piece with his black one.

“Ohhh Peter I don’t think I like this game!” You groaned, resting your head on your palms.

  “Because I beat you every time?” He asked, smirking.

  “Exactly.” You stated, pouting at the chess board.

  “With more practice, you’ll get the hang of it!” Peter encouraged you.

The two of you were sitting at a little table in front of a window overlooking the Avengers grounds. It was after dinner and you were waiting for a meeting to start. You didn’t really like meetings. They sometimes took long and there was lots of arguing.

  “Y/n, I have a secret to tell you, but don’t tell anyone that I said anything. Okay? Especially not Mr. Stark!” Peter whispered.

  “I promise! Tell me!” You urged.

  “Tony has a surprise for us, not a meeting! But I can’t tell you what the surprise is, alright?”

  “No meeting? That’s awesome! And alright… I hope it’s good!” You whisper-yelled.

  “I think it’s pretty good.” Peter grinned.

Just then, the announcement for everyone to meet in the conference room was called. You and Peter raced to the elevator.

  You sat between Natasha and Bucky. You and Peter kept making excited glances at each other across the giant table. Tony entered the room acting serious while you and Peter fought to hold in your giggles. Pepper stood at his side with a soft smile on her face.

  “Alright. Announcement time.” Tony clapped. “I know I told most of you we will be going on a mission tomorrow, except you Y/n, and Pete, but we will actually not be going on a mission tomorrow.” Tony stated.

Steve, Bucky, Natasha, Sam, Wanda, and Vision all looked at each other confused, while you and Peter looked at each other smiling.

  “Tony, what do you mean?” Steve asked, concerned.

  “Pep and I have been doing some reading and thinking about what’s best for us as a team.” Tony began.

  “As a family.” Pepper added.

Everyone waited for what Tony was getting to.

  “Tomorrow, we will be taking a MANDATORY summer trip to a cabin in the mountains.” Tony announced.

Everyone looked at each other shocked, with excited gasps and smiles. You couldn’t believe it. You had never been on a trip like this before.

  “The Avengers need a VACATION.” Tony declared. “We’re all starting to look run-down. ...How can we save the world like that?”

  “Yes. Vacations are shown to have psychological and physical health benefits. You are all hard workers. You deserve this.” Pepper said.

   Everyone cheered and was so happy. You stood up and ran to hug Pepper and Tony, thanking them. You were ecstatic, mostly because you got to go relax with your family instead of them being busy training or going somewhere dangerous. It was going to be great. Everyone was excited, but the person who was probably the most excited of all, even more than you, was Natasha. This was her only family, and she had never gotten to go on a real vacation before.

Tony and Pepper explained all the details for the trip so everyone knew what to pack and what to expect.

  “Get to packing! We leave at 7:00 A.M.!” Tony announced.
