Zero was pretty bad at coming to terms with her emotions. If a feeling couldn't be locked away and kept inside the dark crevices of her mind, then it would become a problem sooner or later. In this case, there was one thing, one person, she couldn't get out of her mind; Clockwork.
The two had been friends for over a year, now. They bonded over throwing bricks from bridges over the highway and watching the cars pile, breaking into houses and mutilating the inhabitants, or just stealing cars and driving to god knows where with a couple of beers. Frankly, Zero was perfectly content that she had found someone just as fucked in the head as she was. It gave her the feeling of true companionship, something she hadn't felt in a very long time. It wasn't until a few months prior that Zero's feelings began to spiral.
Deep in the early hours of morning, long after the two had departed, the monochrome girl would find her mind obsessively scanning back and forth over Clockwork's words. Her dumb nicknames, her god awful jokes, her demented smile.. the thoughts made her heart thump in her chest and her lungs heavy. When they met, Zero would feel strangely nervous. The very sound of her name escaping Clock's lips would make her mind fluster.
She tried for days to make the horrible emotions go away. Some nights she would lay awake, her body burning as perverse thoughts etched themself in her mind. That was the final straw. These feelings were nothing more than a sign of her weakness, and she hated herself for that. She thought of any way she could combat this, killing Clockwork came to mind many many times, and she eventually sided on avoiding her altogether. As long as she could stay away, Zero had won.
What she didn't count on was actually missing Natalie; more than anything. And this lead her to exactly where she is now; after nearly two months of avoiding her, she was standing in front of Clockwork's apartment door with a lead weight in her stomach. Part of her begged to just go home and cut her losses, while the other insisted she just knock on the door and settle this shit. Either way, she had to make a decision; not everyone was going to take lightly to a skeleton girl standing in the hallway.
Without another thought, Zero pressed her knuckles to the door and knocked, five times. There was movement in the apartment, but she wasn't given an answer. After a moment of waiting, she knocked again, unfortunately, with the same result.
"Nat, you dumb bitch, I know you're in there. Open up." Zero called through the crack between the door and the frame.
Only seconds were wasted before the sound of the chain lock, deadbolt, and door lock were quickly unbolted, and the door swung open. Clockwork leaned against the entryway, one hand outstretched against the door, keeping in open, and the other lazily hooked on her jeans pocket.
"Shit, I thought you were a cop." Clockwork offered her a lopsided smile. "Where you been anyways? I figured you'd died or somethin'."
"Or something." Zero attempted to look her in the eye. "Can I come in?"
Without another word, Clock moved out of the way to let her in.
"Ladies first~"
The inside of her apartment was small and cluttered. The walls were littered with bathroom tier graffiti, posters, pictures, and an entire wall that looked like it had been dedicated to testing out paint colors. Before long, the two were sitting on the couch laughing and gossiping loudly about whatever would come to mind. Zero felt like it had been an eternity since she last saw Natalie, yet nothing had changed. It was like mere days had gone by.
"You know," Clockwork began, leaning her head back against the couch and turning to face Zero. "You should tell me next time you decide to disappear. I was starting to worry. Besides, I missed your dumb ass."
Her green eye shone with sincerity, making Zero melt inside. It became too much for her. She couldn't keep up this passive charade anymore.
"I missed you too.." she murmured, staring at Clockwork's lips.
Slowly, Zero got up and crawled into the brunette's lap, straddling her. Clockwork raised a brow but allowed her, laying her arms across Zero's shoulders. Closing her black handed eyes, Zero presses her lips to Clockwork's. Surprisingly, she felt the other girl grin against her lips, and part them slightly. Desperately, Zero's tongue entered her mouth, and they danced slowly to the sound of the gently ticking clock. Not enough time had passed before they pulled away, breathing slowly.
"I..," Zero sat up, her pale face lighting with blush. "Sorry.."
Zero went to get up, hiding her face with embarrassment. She was stopped when a pair of hands grabbed her waist, gently.
"Where do you think you're going?"
Before she knew what was happening, Zero was pushed down on the couch, the taller girl pinning her, her lips pressed tight against hers. Zero absolutely melted in pleasure from the feeling. They stayed like that, making out on Clockwork's dingy couch, hands running through hair, legs intertwining.
"Natalie," Zero mumbled against her lips. "I like you."
"I like you too, dummy."
Another kiss. Every one felt like a firework of lust going off between their lips. It was maybe ten minutes later that the kisses finally ended. They laid on the couch, Clockwork between Zero's legs, her head rested on her stomach.
"I've always liked you, y'know." Clockwork spoke up, grasping for Zero's gloved hand. "Didn't know if you swung that way."
"It's, actually why I left for so long," Zero played with a lock of brown hair. "Figured you'd think it was lame. I had a feeling you liked me back when you stuck your tongue down my throat though."
"So!~" Clockwork smiled, turning over to look up at Zero. "Does this mean I'm yours now?"
Zero leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead.
"All mine."
