— Ugh. . . — T's low grunt echoed through the dark void. The young woman felt as if every bone in her body was shattered, so she lied still, waiting for this sharp pain to subdue. When she opened her eyes she squinted and closed them fast. Despite being at the bottom of the pit it was as bright as day. Adjusting to the light, T looked at the golden buttercups that she landed on. — Huh? — touching the soft petals of the golden flowers, a confused look crept onto her face. Soon, the pain stopped, leaving just an uneasy feeling in the gut. Rolling onto her back T looked up, the sun rays fell onto her form. Above stood many pillars that seemed like they were holding the sun itself. Somewhere far above was the entrance to the forsaken cave.
— Geez, how long will you gawk around? — a childlike and girly voice spoke somewhere in the distance. Snapping her head towards the sound T examined the stranger child from head to toe. At the darkest part of the cave stood a small kid with short brown hair and crimson eyes that glowed and gave off an unsettling vibe. The girl wore a green and yellow stripped sweater and a pair of brown baggy shorts, but the most peculiar thing about her outfit was a golden heart-shaped locket that hung from her neck.
— Hey there. — T spoke nonchalantly as she turned back towards the light.
— That's the weirdest reaction I've seen in all of my afterlife. — the girl in sweater walked closer towards the blonde and crouched by her side.
— I've seen all sorts of people in my head. I'm not impressed by a child popping out of nowhere in the dark pit I've fallen into.
— Okay. . . If that wasn't weird enough. Don't you feel anything about you falling into this dark pit? — the girl leaned towards the young female, looking into her light grey eyes with her crimson ones.
— I feel stupid. I almost climbed back up only to roll down like an idiot. — T rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.
— So. . . What are you planning to do now? — the child laid down by the blonde and looked up.
— Wait for help, I guess. I doubt that there'll be network deep here, so I'll wait for my roommate to start searching me. — the young woman shrugged in response.
— Why won't you try finding way out yourself?
— Is there even a way out?
— Of course there is! I can lead you, you see, this world is a dangerous place, you need a guide. — girl's crimson eyes glimmered strangely as she smiled widely.
— Okay, semi transparent child that I've met in the bottom of a pit I fell into and strangely haven't died. — T spoke with a deadpan, stood up and wore her bag after checking it's contents, making sure that none of her precious belongings are lost.
— My name's Chara by the way. — the girl said as she started walking away towards the dark corner of the cavern. — And you are?
— Just call me T. — the blonde introduced herself curtly while shoving her hands into her pockets.
— Listen T, this underground world is filled with monsters, you'll have to fight to survive, so be prepared. — the young woman stopped walking after Chara's words as she looked at the little smiling flower that popped out of the ground.
— Howdy! My name is Flowey, Flowey the flower! — the little plant winked at the human.
— You say that I'll have to fight this little pansy? Oh just look at him! — T crouched by the flower and smiled weakly. — My name's T.
— Nice to meet you! Let me share some petals of love with you! — at this moment a small maroon heart popped out of the young woman's chest as the world around her and the flower turned black. Small yellow petals started falling from somewhere above, T was hesitant, Chara's words lingered in her head, what if what she said was true?
— Only one way to find out. — T muttered to herself as she took a deep breath and touched one petal. The second that the petal made contact with the female's soft skin an unbearable pain coursed through her body, it lasted for a mere moment, but it's aftermath made her body shake with fear. Looks can be decieving, how can this small, friendly, yellow flower hurt anyone and why? How can this little petal bring so much pain?
— Ha! You naive, stupid human! In this world it's kill or be killed, how could anyone pass up an opportunity like this? Now die. — Flowey summoned thousands of petals that circled around the young woman. Is this the end? Did she survive the fall just to die from this little pansy-monster? Wait. Where's Chara? She said she would be her guide, will she let her die just like this?!
— Stop right there! — a huge fireball appeared out of nowhere as it knocked the yellow flower away into the darkness, the petals disappeared, and T let out a sigh full of relief. — Oh my dear child, are you alright? — raising her head up, she saw a tall goat-like monster covered in white fur, wearing a purple robe with white sleeves. This monster looked far more intimidating than the little murderous flower, but the way this furry being looked at the young woman with worry and genuine concern made T loosen up a bit.
— Yeah, I guess so. — the human stood up and dusted her clothes off dirt. — Thanks for saving me. . . uh. . . ma'am? — the young woman didn't know how to address this monster without offending them.
— My name is Toriel, my child, I'm the watcher of the Ruins. What is your name? — the goat monster smiled as she slowly took the human's hand into her fuzzy paw and led her deeper into the next room.
