"This is a business soirée. I hope you can be on your best behaviour tonight. It's really important for the company."
"You knew how I was when you married me, Hephaestus, so don't try to tell me what I should or shouldn't do." She winked and gave him a smile right before stepping into the glamorous soirée.
Aphrodite was known for her scandalous affairs, her most recent being Ares, her husband's own brother . This had been the talk of New York's elite for a couple of days now. But it didn't bother her; after all, her marriage was nothing but business, and she was okay with that, as long as she could have a little fun here and there. The only one who was bothered by this was her husband, not because he loved her, but because of the negative attention this brought to his company.
The moment she entered, all eyes were on her. Her beauty and confidence always caused that effect on people. And as soon as Ares saw her, he went towards her, to greet her.
"I was hoping you'd be here."
Hephaestus couldn't let both of them ruin his business night, so he interrupted them, with no result whatsoever.
"I bet you were, brother. But if..."
"Weren't you about to go talk business with those men over there? Why don't you just go and leave us alone, dear husband?" By this time, he was already used to her depreciative tone, and knew it was best to go.
"I know that we were together a couple of days ago, honey," she whispered in Ares' ear, "but that's over now." As he gazed at her beauty, she stuck her high heel into his foot. When he flinched in pain, she turned away, smiling victoriously.
