Calypso was staring back at the lieutenant. Riley grabbed the megaphone from officer Megan’s hand. “Hey, you in the forest. Come out with your hands up or we’ll fire!” He didn’t move. Calypso had something in his right pocket. He slowly reached for it and grasped it with full force. Jandel squinted his eyes and once Calypso’s hand left his pocket, he backed away and found himself trapped in front of cop cars. “Uh lieutenant, if I were you, I would run.” Calypso threw the hand grenade at the police cars.

The whole world slowed down. Jandel’s vision started acting up again. But this time, it was different. He stared at the grenade as it was in the air, he couldn’t move no matter how much he tried. His body was stuck in mid-air as he was trying to hop over the car. His vision had blood around his sight and the center was clear. Something wasn’t right and he knew it. Something like this can't happen.

Finally, the grenade landed near the lieutenant’s car and ignited. Every other car caught fire and blew up. Jandel’s heart pounded until it started to hurt. Finally, things sped up again. Jandel landed on the ground and started running. The car behind him exploded and flew into the air. Jandel turned around for a quick second and noticed that Calypso was gone. He looked forward again and continued running. The car hit the ground and rolled. Jandel ran as fast as he could to avoid it, but he wasn’t fast enough.

The car was on top of Jandel. He tried squirming and pulling himself from under the car but it didn’t work. Jandel finally stopped moving and stared at the starry night sky. Nobody was in the area. It was just him and a bunch of dead police officers. “Ha, I never thought I would go down like this.” He smiled and finally shut his eyes.

Calypso walked away from the scene quickly and quietly. Another car erupted behind him but he didn’t look. From owls hooting to coyotes howling, it seemed like a peaceful night. Calypso finally exited the forest and came face-to-face with an old woman. “Did you take care of it?” Calypso nodded and walked over to the old pick up truck in the corner of the dirt parking lot. He drove off into the dirt road and didn’t look back.

The old woman walked into the forest with a flashlight and a heavy bag. She dragged it over branches and dirt. “Ugh, why must you be so heavy?” She spoke to the unresponsive bag and walked at the same time. Long minutes passed and the bag she carried never moved nor spoke. The old lady felt weird talking to the bag, but what was inside made her reassure herself that it was ok.

Finally, she found Calypso’s old house. “Poor Emily. Clearly, she didn’t study the paper.” She laughed and tip-toed past her head. She got to the door and pushed it with her foot. Once she opened it, the horrible dead carcass smell swallowed her whole. “Oh my gosh. You absolute slob. Could’ve cleaned up the place.” She held her nose and dragged the bag inside. The whole house was covered in furniture with the plastic wrapping on it. The old woman pulled the bag into the living room, then turned on the light.

“Ok, time to start working.” She sat down on the couch and sighed. She opened the bag and inside it were metal parts. “You’re gonna make her beautiful.” She smiled and started putting pieces of machinery together. “You’re gonna be a star, sweetie.” Throughout the night, she made an endoskeleton out of the parts. She went upstairs and stored it away in the bedroom closet. The old woman sat down on the bed and turned on the tv.

“Breaking news! The grey-haired girl named Hailey who was tossed out the window the other day went missing. Police say she was in the hospital awaiting surgery when suddenly, her body goes missing. Doctors say she was dead when she arrived. Investigators are still looking for her body. And another incident occurred at the famous hiking park in Mission. Investigators claim that someone threw a hand grenade at officers while trying to figure out why there were bombs in the park. Police cars and officers were blown to bits. Including a teenage boy who was stuck under a cop car. The boy was rushed over to the hospital

The old woman grinned from ear to ear. “Oh Hailey, my little chickadee, we’ll find out who did this to you. And we will kill him.”

Rain began to pour down onto the pick-up and dark clouds made the sky look like it was night. Calypso yawned and kept his focus on the road. A drove past a sign that read, “Leaving Velocity City”. He looked into the left mirror and saw the towers of Velocity. He sighed and shook his head.

Long hours passed and Calypso was getting tired. He drove past another sign that read, “Welcome to California”. “Finally, I made it.” From distant hills to the golden state bridge, he was happy to be in California. Mainly because he had business to take care of. There was a dirt road up ahead and it would’ve been a challenge if Calypso wasn’t an off-road driver. He drove onto the grass for a quick second then turned onto the road. There was a house at the top of a hill. Calypso stopped the truck and turned it off. He walked up the hill and stopped in front of the door to the house. He banged on it three times before someone opened it. A young blonde woman opened the door and gasped. “Hello, Vivian.”

Cop cars still on their backs. Blood poured down the street and dripped into the cracks of the street. Rain coming down harder than hail. Everything was still blurry. No ambulance in sight, no helicopters circling the area, nothing. There was no hope of surviving. He had to try. He just had to. His eyes opened, and he reached out from under the car with his bloody arm.
