So, you think you’re tougher than me Mysterio?” The bar had never been this quiet. Nicky was guarding the door like a bouncer. And someone was in front of him. “You gonna say something or am I gonna have to kick your ass?” The man stood quiet. The man’s mask was very impressively designed and most definitely threatening. “Ok bub, you have 3 seconds to skedaddle or you’re getting beat.” The man was about Nicky’s height; it gave him the chills. “ONE…..TWO….THR-” The man in the mask punched his stomach so hard, Nicky spits up blood and dropped to his knees. “What…...why-” The man in the mask smashed Nicky’s head into the ground. Nicky went quiet.
The man opened the doors and walked inside while dragging Nicky by his long and curly hair. The door shut behind him and everyone in the bar went still. The man threw Nicky’s body onto a nearby table. The bartender walked around the counter and came face-to-face with the man. “What did you do to Nicky?” The man was silent. “WHO ARE YOU?!” The man quickly reached for his Glock in his pocket and pressed it against the bartender’s head. “Don’t yell at me ever again. Ya got that?” The bartender nodded.
Nicky started to move and grunt. The man noticed that he was still alive and within that moment, he pointed his gun at Nicky and pulled the trigger. The loud bang alerted people on the street. The group of bikers in the back of the bar stood up and surrounded the man. The bartender was set free but the man had other plans. He shot the bartender’s kneecaps. The whole biker crew drew weapons. One man had the balls to speak. “Now listen here Newby, you can’t just walk in here and shoot people all willy nilly.” The man laughed. “Watch me…” The man pulled out another Glock and managed to shoot every single biker gang member. The man stood over many corpses and laughed maniacally. Everyone else in the bar was still quiet. One woman cowering under the table crawled out slowly. “Who are you?”
“I’m Calypso.”
“Ok, now can you tell me why you decided to murder Hailey?” The bus was sorta empty but very noisy. “Why do you wanna know so badly?” Eva smothered Richard a little too much. “So I don’t report your ass to the cops.” Jandel was fiddling with his watch. “Oh, right. Well, it all started a couple of months ago, I was walking around school until I accidentally walked into her. Hailey was the quiet one so she didn’t start a scene or anything like that. I said sorry and kept walking. But for some reason, I felt like I was being followed. Every day I would catch her walking behind me. During school and after school. After a week of the same stupid thing, I talked to her. I told her to back off, and she did. Shortly after, my phone started going crazy.”
Richard yawns then falls asleep. “Weird things happened. I saw the words ‘I’m watching you’ and ‘look behind you’.” Jandel yawned. “Man, you talk too much.” Eva sighed and continued. “I got a new phone and luckily, she can’t mess with it. Well, at least I think it was her. I assumed it was her, so I kidnapped her and then beat the living hell out of her at my place. Then she somehow got her strength and dragged me to the park. She kept telling me that someone was waiting for me. I don’t know who she was talking about but I honestly don’t want to find out. And then you came to ‘rescue’ me.”
Jandel rolled his eyes and looked out the window. Then he gasped. “I think I missed my stop. Hm, oh well. I’m pretty sure I’m ahead in all of my work. A day off wouldn’t be a bad idea.” He relaxed his body. “So Jandel, where are we going?” Jandel sat up and brushed his somewhat visible mustache. “Uh, I think we’re heading downtown.” He looked out the window again and saw bright teal and orange buildings. “Oh, now I know where we are….” Eva gave him a concerned expression. “We’re in the rich part of Velocity City.” Cars zoomed past the bus at an alarming speed. “Hmm, what the hell is going on?” Jandel stood up and walked to the front of the bus to look out the big windshield. There was a fire at Velocity Global. One of the tallest and most historic buildings on the planet. With about one hundred and fifty floors, people adored it. But now, people fear it. Jandel examined the building. Then he realized something. A masked man was running away from the building. He didn’t have a normal mask on and Jandel knew that he was the reason why the building was on fire.“Eva, I’ll be right back. Watch Richard for me. The address to my place is on his tag. Meet me there.” Without hesitation, Jandel hopped off the bus and chased the man. The bus wasn’t very far from the scene. Jandel ran through crowds of injured people and first-responders. At first, Jandel thought that he should just mind his business, but there was something about the mask that felt familiar. “Where have I seen that mask?” The man ran into an alleyway and hoped over a metal fence. Jandel followed. “Where the hell is this guy going?” The building finally collapsed and crowds began to scream. Then a car drifts out of the street corner. The man hopped in and slammed the door. Jandel tripped on a garbage can. He quickly got to his feet and ran out the alley leading him to Cunningham Ave. A pink Dodge Charger zooms past Jandel. He looked at who was driving but it was hard to tell. The only thing he saw was a girl with pink hair. “Who are you?”
