AFTER Jongho won the match and became my bodyguard, father told him to always be by my side. He accompanied me everywhere, at every meeting I attended, every walk I had, even when I went shopping. And I started to like it.
"Ta-da! What do you think?"
I made a pirouette as I opened the curtain of the dressing room. Jongho was waiting for me on a baby-blue velvet couch in front of the dressing room.
"As I said, this dress is way better than the last one. And now that I see it on you, miss Eunmi, I'm amazed how well it suits you."
Jongho is a shopaholic with a very delicate taste. He really helps a lot in making great outfits for me. Furthermore, he always compliments me and that's sweet of him.
One day, me and Jongho were in a hurry because I was late for a meeting. While we were crossing the street, I was having a business call. Jongho was walking behind me. Because I was so focused on my phone call I didn't realise I reached a crosswalk. When I turned my head around, my heart almost stopped because a car was coming with speed.
I froze on the spot and totally ignored the voice from the other side of my phone. Within a second Jongho caught my hand and pulled me back to him so I smoothly bumped into his chest. My heart was pounding so hard, that every beat echoed in my ears. Jongho was still holding me tightly to his chest.
"Miss Eunmi! Pay attention to the road and traffic lights! It was red!"
While Jongho was scolding me, all I could think about was how warm it felt in his arms. I felt safe. I didn't want him to let me go. As if he read my mind, Jongho grabbed my hand.
"We will pass the crosswalk like this so I'll be sure nothing bad happens to you, miss Eunmi."
"Please, call me Eunmi."
My words left the boy near me in surprise. He didn't add any comment nor ask any question, he just shortly smiled. We walked the whole crosswalk holding hands. It was the first time I held hands with Jongho.
Everything he was doing for me — he was more like a friend not bodyguard! I bet everyone who saw us on the street thought we are a couple, not a boss and their subordinate. We always chat and laugh with each other.
In that moment, when he pulled me into his hug just to save my life, I felt something new. Jongho felt warm and somehow familiar. He felt solid and safe, I trust him. All I wanted to do in that moment was to cling to him and never let go.
I was slowly falling in love. And I was aware of it.
After two weeks of him being my bodyguard, I decided to tell him what I feel.
I didn't care he is my bodyguard, I just wanted to let him know I developed feelings for him. And I was definitely not afraid of rejection."Jongho."
I was looking through some papers on my desk while I called his name. Jongho was sitting on a sofa in my office.
"Mm?"
He continued to list through his phone. I glanced at him and smiled for myself, he didn't even imagine what I was about to say.
"I think I like you."
He raised his eyes and stared at me for a second, then he got back to listing through his phone and a smirk covered his face.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
I furrowed my brows. What kind of question is this? Of course I'm sure of whom I like. Jongho closed his phone and put it on the sofa. He intertwined his hands together on his stomach while fixing me with his gaze.
"I'm a monster, you know. I'm one of the dangerous ones."
I stared at him for a moment, trying to understand, whether he is joking or not. But his expression was too serious for such a joke. I broke the eye contact and focused back on my files before answering.
"So what?"
Back then, I didn't give it too much significance. He is one of the best boxers, of course he's dangerous, but I'm not afraid of him.
"So nothing. You're my girlfriend now."
