I walk in through the big glass sliding doors. Then towards the elevator. I press the button for floor 4. At the counter on the fourth floor was Miranda. I hated the girl's guts. I walked past her and walked to my sister's room. She had just woken up.
"Hi Sunshine!" I use my nickname for her. She sees me and her face immediately lights up.
"Jess! The doctor wants to talk to you." She smiles. The doctor is standing in the door frame.motioning me to come out to the hallway.
"Doctor James?" I question when I see him. I hate talking to doctors. They always looks so serious and stern. Seriously can they lighten up? They look like they always have bad news.
"Yes! Miss Bentley, your sister is doing very well, I think she can go home for a while. Bring her back in a week for a check up?" He says.
"Oh, okay yea I'll do that." What a life for a seven year old. In and out of hospitals all the time. All because of the big "C". Cancer. "Umm, I guess I'll go get a cab. Thank you." I never had social skills to just simply talk to someone. I smile and walk off towards the elevator and wait for it to open. When it does, the familiar brown haired boy with the All Time Low singlet is there. He just stares at me. After a few seconds he tries to move away and walk off. But I don't give him the chance to do that. I grab him by the shirt and pull him into the elevator. I press the button for the ground floor and turn back to him.
"What are you doing? Stalking me?" I ask sternly.
"No! I..." He stops and glares at me. "What are you doing here?" He says.
"What does it matter!?" I yell. "Listen, just stop following me!"
"I wasn't following you! God, you think everything is about you, don't you?" He pushes the stop button on the elevator.
"What? No! God, why does everyone think that?" I say. "I'm trying to get people to stop noticing me at all! So why the fuck would I want everything to be about me?" I burst. I push the start button on the elevator.
Silence. The elevator comes to a stop and the doors open
"I'm sorry." He says smiling. his phone goes off and he looks at it and reads something. "I have a dinner to go to. See you tomorrow Cora!" He laughs.
"Whatever Fletcher." I groan.

"Mother! Jenna's home!" I say. My mother walks out of the kitchen.
"Hello, Jenna!" She smiles and gives my sister a hug. "Hi, Jess!" She smiles and kisses my cheek.
"What's with the kitchen?" I ask smiling at all the pots on the skillet.
"I am making a nice dinner. We have a special guest coming that I invited!" She looks at Jenna.
Jenna gasps, "Is it my friend?" She jumps up and down.
"It's a surprise!" My mom laughs.
"Okay, well I'm going to go take a shower." I interrupt.
"Oh Hun?" My mom questions
"Yea mom?" I respond
"I was wondering if you've been thinking about colleges."
"Oh.. uh yea I've been thinking and looking at a few universities."
"Okay good" She smiles.
"Yea.." I fake laugh then head upstairs.
When I get in the shower and start to shampoo my hair, I feel depressed for my sister. I wish she wasn't like this. She doesn't even have hair that she can braid or curl or anything. Before i know it I'm crying. So I rinse out my hair and get out of the shower. I dry myself and walk out of my bathroom into my room. My mom gave me the master bedroom because she wanted the smaller bedroom. Anyways I decide to change into a pair of black skinny jeans, Nirvana tee, and all black, converse high tops. After getting dressed I go back to the bathroom and put my hair in a messy bun. I also do my everyday make up.
After deciding I looked decent I grab my phone and turn off my speakers and my music. Which, made me sad because I was listening to Sleeping With Sirens. I walk out of my room, shutting my bedroom door and make my way downstairs. Half way down I hear my sister laughing. It really makes me happy to hear her laugh. I continue down the stairs ready to see a little girl or boy playing with my sister. I was excited to meet a friend of hers. But instead, I see a head of curly brown hair, jeans, and a Nirvana shirt just like mine. I look at the face and my smile turns to a look of disgust. Ashton freaking Irwin is in my house.
"Jess! Meet my friend, Ashy!" She says and giggles while holding Ashton's hand.
"Oh hi, Ashton." I say through clenched teeth.
"Jenna, I need to talk to your sister really quickly, kay?" He asks her, bending down to her height. That clicks in my brain and I walk up to them.
"Hey Sunshine, why don't you go watch some TV for a bit?" I say to her. She nods and walks back to the couch. I grab Ashton's wrist at pull him out the door. We are standing outside and we just stare at each other.
"Well this couldn't get any more awkward," he says. Bullshit.
"So what you just go visit random girls in the hospital and keep them company?" I yell. He just stares at me.
"No. She was my sister's roommate. Long time ago. I still visit Jenna because she was my sister's friend." Silence again. "Jess why do you hate me so much?" he pauses. "Actually, everyone in general."
"Because people don't care. Friends come and go. I'm not going to waste my time trying to be on someone's good side if they're just going to stab me in the back the next day." I state.
"Wow! No cigarette?!" He smiles.
"I'm actually trying to quit," I smirk.
"Come on, Cora. Give me a chance at least. Let's be friends, I'm not going to leave." He says seriously.
"One chance, Fletcher. And the only reason I'm doing this is for my sister." I say, glancing at him playfully.
"Whatever, Cora." He says pushing me lightly. We just smile at each other. It was strange knowing I had a friend now. It felt like a dream. But of coarse, everyone has to eventually wake up from a dream into reality.
Which was about to happen to me.
