"You're almost there! C'mon! A few more feet!" Jaiden urged, splashing water excitedly as she faced a struggling Conner. Over the last week, he'd graduated from using floaties to a simple swimming board. He was at the deep end of the community pool with Jaiden on the shallow end. She was teaching him to flutter kick from one end of the pool to the other. Conner groaned as he finally reached Jaiden, who clapped happily.
"See!? We're getting there! Few days ago you couldn't even look at the deep end,"
"Yeah, yeah," Conner huffed. He was never in a good mood whenever the two had their lessons. The only time Conner would do them was before school, just as the pool opened at 5:30 am. So no one could see him, of course. He'd never voice it, but he was grateful to Jaiden for doing this.
It's been a total of three weeks since her and her friends became Power Rangers. There've been a few monster attacks, and some drama in their own lives (like Trent's dad buying Cyberspace and wanting him to run it, but all was squared away and Hayley was able to keep her job). Kira had reunited with her old friend, Kylee. Ethan got sucked into a video game, the team gained new zords; the Dimetro Zord, and Stego Zord. And not to mention that the team have a rogue ranger running around, kicking their butts.
Yeah, it's been an eventful week.
"C'mon, we don't wanna be late," Jaiden hopped out of the pool, Conner following behind her.
"Right, cause I'd hate to miss Dr. O's super interesting science class," the taller grumbled, and Jaiden just rolled her eyes. She was getting used to his sarcastic and snide comments, and never took them to heart.
The two drives themselves off, and threw on dry clothes.
"Hey, did you hear about the homecoming dance next Friday?" Conner asked the beauty as the two headed for the parking lot.
"No," Jaiden shrugged, "not a fan of school dances."
"All clubs and sports teams are forced to go," and by the looks of it, Conner was dreading it. "But this year might not be so bad, Kira's gonna be playing, and the geek club is in charge of all the lights and stuff."
"Computer club," Jaiden corrected nonchalantly, "which means Ethan will be there, too." She figured. "Well, if everyone's going then I may as well." Conner hid his enthusiasm, playing it off with a shrug.
"Yeah, if you want," he not-so-slyly said. Jaiden chuckled.
"See you at school," the beauty sent a nod Conner's way when he headed for his car.
"Wait, you don't want a ride or anything-" he was cut off as Jaiden smirked, and she Ninja Streaked off, becoming a blue of white. Conner sighed, "right, Ninja Master, I keep forgetting."
"Yo, McKnight! You done hanging around these losers? You and Jaiden should come sit with us," Jaiden stared up at Jake and two of his friends. She sat with Kira and Ethan at lunch, and Conner would join them more often than not. It was one of the few days they ate inside, since it was raining, and Jaiden thought that sitting out in the rain right now wouldn't be so bad.
