Stuck With The Bad Boy

TEXT: 'hey vanessa! it's me, maddie <3 i got your number from william :)'

She let out a sigh of relief as she realized it was Maddison and not Asher.

But why would Asher want to text me anyway? He has no reason to. Why would that be the first thing to come to my mind when I get an unknown number...?

She mentally facepalmed herself before texting Maddison back and chatting with her a little bit.

After about 30 minutes passed she glanced at the time and remembered that she still hasn't made lunch.

"Crap!!" She quickly ended her chat with Maddison and ran downstairs.

"So Vanessa how was your first day of school? Make any new friends?" Her mom asked smiling as she tasted the creamy pasta her daughter had made.

It was no surprise. Her daughter's cooking was amazing. She felt proud of her yet she felt guilty that she couldn't help out. She comes back late and she's usually exhausted. She also teaches laura the main subjects as she's homeschooled. Their financial state doesn't allow them to get private tutors.

But Judith was smart and she was more than capable of teaching almost all the subjects especially till middle school level. She had to admit it did exhaust her but she was willing to do that for her kids. Anything for them.

"Huh? Oh. Good. And yeah, I did," Vanessa said, trying to end the conversation.

"You sound unenthusiastic, did something happen?"

As always mom reads right through me.

But as always I have to lie.

Before she could say anything, though. Laura started to talk. "I bet Nessa made soooo many friends in school and became soooo popular that she is very tired! Right Nessa?" she grinned widely; which led to all of them smiling.

Thanks, Laura.

"That's exactly right!" Vanessa giggled as she high-fived her little sister.

When Vanessa finished eating her food she washed the dishes, headed upstairs, showered, did her french homework; which was just a five sentence introduction about themselves in french, and then she just watched some youtube until she started dozing off and decided to brush her teeth and go to bed.

Tomorrow I'll apologize to Asher and start fresh. With no worries or problems. That's my plan.

Rather, that was her plan...

Right as William and Vanessa arrived at school, she spotted Asher coming out of some black car. Even though Vanessa knew nothing about cars, she knew it was expensive. Way more expensive than she could imagine.

' Tomorrow I'll apologize to Asher and start fresh. With no worries or problems. That's my plan. ' Vanessa's words returned to her.

Okay past Nessa, guess I'll do as you say.

As she was about to go and talk to him she remembered that William is still beside her...

"Will, I'll go to class early today, I'll meet Asher on the way. Then I'll find Maddison and walk with her. You don't have to worry. See you later," she said quickly not even giving him a chance to talk.

I'll just apologize and get it over with.

William found it weird that Vanessa was running to get to class early. He felt happy that she had made friends she could talk to when he didn't have time but he can't deny feeling a bit down that she might start favoring Maddison or Asher over him. She did, after all, look like she made friends with them before he even introduced her and she has classes with them more than she does with him.
