"Wait...so where's Asher? Why isn't he with you guys?" Maddison asked as she placed her food tray on the table.
"I have no idea. He just left and said something came up," William said with a shrug.
"He just left? Just like that? How is that possible?" Vanessa asked, genuinely confused. "In my old school, if you wanted to leave you literally had to send so many papers to the principal's office, asking and explaining why you need to take a leave of absence. Then it was up to her to decide whether or not your reasoning was important enough or not,"
"Umm that's hell, I would rather stay in school," JJ said in a rather sassy attitude.
"No, you wouldn't," Tyler said nonchalantly.
"No, I wouldn't," JJ almost instantly repeated.
William laughed and said "That's just how Asher is, he comes, he goes, he's here then he's not here. You just never know with that guy," William said as he tried to bite his very disturbing-looking meatball.
"But it's just the second day of school," Vanessa said widening her eyes.
"Hun, we are even surprised he made it to the first day. Sometimes he doesn't show up till the second week," Madison said.
How does that even happen...he's weird..what could be so important that he has to miss so many school days.
Whatever. It's none of my business.
"So anyway! Enough about Asher, let's talk about something else," Maddison said, and soon after, They started to talk about how's school going and slowly they got to know each other more.
Now I know Tyler barely talks, but when he does everyone listens so intently. I also know JJ is mixed, his mom is American while his dad is Lebanese, and his name stands for Jayden Jamal, but he's been called JJ his whole life. Also, Madison literally used to have a nipple piercing, which is super cool but it got infected, and then it eventually closed.
Just little things like that. Fun things. Friend things.
Asher remained completely unknown, though.

After a tiresome 7 hours of school, it was finally time to leave. As Vanessa was grabbing her things from her locker and got ready to go, William and Maddison popped up.
"Hey, Nessa," William said with a smile.
"Hey," She walked towards him,
"Hey, Van," Maddison teased.
"Oh no, everything but that," Vanessa said, to which William replied, "Wait, what about it?"
"It's an Asher 'nickname'," Madison made hand quotations at the word: nickname.
William laughed lightly "Honestly- sounds like him but when did it happen? I didn't know you two talked,"
"We don't. But for some reason he texted me before, saying he wants to meet me at the diner that's near here. I don't know-"
"You mean Asher? He texted you? When did he even get your number?" William interrupted her.He felt weird. He had never seen those two interacting but then they're suddenly meeting up?
That's weird for Asher, and William wasn't about to let it go.
"I gave it to him earlier today but that's not the point, Will. The point is I don't know whether or not I should go, I mean, I don't know what he wants to talk about and why so suddenly,"
