I lifted Lukas up off of my forearm with my teeth on his shirt. He stirred a bit, but I got him off without waking him. I looked at him, sadness in my eyes at having to leave him like this. He hadn't done anything wrong, but I had to do this by myself. He'd just get hurt. But what if he thinks it was his fault..? I had to push these thoughts aside, if he came he'd only slow me down. I turned around and started walking down the path, my wings pressed firmly to my sides to keep myself from going cold. Suddenly there was a warmth on my tail that slowly made it's way to my back. I looked back to see Lukas, a hard expression on his face. Crap. "What do you think you're doing?" He asked. I stuttered out "I.. uh.. Stuff?" He shook his head, "Come on..." He slid off and walked back towards the pen. I lowered my head and started thinking of another plan. Lukas went inside the house quietly and came back out a few minutes later with his hands filled with objects and a large pack on his back. He hefted my saddle on and put the objects into it before sliding on himself. I looked back at him, about to protest, but he had an unshakable look of determination on his face that I knew all to well with any male ever. I sighed and started down the path again, Lukas's smile beaming as he reclined on the saddle. As I reached the end of the path I took off, the sun rising with me and illuminating my golden eyes, which were filled with anger and adventure. I flew on, the strange dragon's scent filling my nose once more. I roared furiously and raced forward in search of it. "I'm coming for you," I growled.
