"Jason... My name is Jason"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Despite waking up in Gods know where place, Jason guts are telling him that Dick is strange, his reaction to his name is even stranger.
He can see how Dick's face scrunched up in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it-way before smoothing, like he was biting back a curse or something. How his eyes have narrow in what seem like suspicion or the various conflicting look in his eyes that came after.
And he's really quiet if you compare it to his seemingly talkative demeanor earlier.
He really is weird. Is there something wrong with my name?
Or is he even really a talkative person in the first place?
Maybe he's just overthinking things. How can he even say that Dick is talkative when they barely exchange a few sentences. Or does it mean that those few sentences already count as talkative for him, if that so then did he consider all those he spoke with as talkative?
Mentally shaking his head to the get back on track, he knows, although he can't seem to explain, his guts is telling him that Dick's reaction to his name is more on the wrong side than the weird side.
Or perhaps the weird one is me.
"Um.." He began,"Is there something wrong?"
The question seem to have snapped Dick out of whatever he was thinking.
"No, no. Nothing's wrong." he said, face breaking into a small smile. "It's just that you have the same name as my little brother."
"Oh." Not knowing what else to say.
"So Jason who is not my little brother, can you tell me what's your last name is?" He asked with a smile.
"My last name." He muttered to himself, but Dick seem to have heard him asked "What's wrong?"
Once more Dick see how Jason face scrunched up again, an obvious frown showing up on his face.
"I..." Jason stammered, growing more frustrated at each passing second, running his hands on his hair and sometimes tugging it, a low growl escaping his lips. "I don't remember."
"Hey, calm down. Don't force yourself if you can't remember. How about you tell me instead what else do you remember?"
The other thing he remembered huh, Jason thought, aside from drowning, the burning sensation from the lack of air as water fill his lungs, is his dream.
If that even counts as a dream when its more like a nightmare. A flash of gold, a storm, the taste of copper in his mouth and what stood out to him the most is the pair of kaleidescope eyes. Everything about it was so vivid it can't possibly be just a dream, can it?
"I.." he began, hesitating, "I'm not really sure."
Would I look like crazy person if I tell him? How does even one determine that a person is crazy? Where do you even draw the line that separate sanity to insanity?
Biting his lips, then resignedly he took a deep breath and continued "It seems so surreal, like a dream. It was raining hard and I was lying in cold stone floor, water pooling around me and... and also blood..."
When the kid said his name, he felt more than heard Jason leaving. Not that he can blame him, Tim would definitely have an existential crisis if something like this happened to him, which Jason is probably having right now.
Focusing back on the matter at hand, he just in time to hear the other Jason answer Dick's question about his last name.
"I don't remember."
Tim bit back a curse. "How convenient." The kid is one big mystery, a mystery that keeps on getting bigger and bigger, with how they have almost no information about him.
"Tch, suspicious."
Bruce has remained silent but Tim can make out how his foster father brows furrows from his peripheral.
"He could be lying"
Tim snorted.
Really Damian, can you even hear how incredulous that is?
He glance at his little brother, not that he'll admit out loud that he consider Damian as such, with one eyebrow raised.
"Really? Because it sounds to me that you are convincing yourself that the kid's lying."
Cass may be the best among them at reading body language, but that doesn't mean the rest of the bats ability to read body language is subpar. Heck, Tim learned to read body language from Cass herself, and as far as he can see, the kid's is telling the truth.
That or he's too good of an actor to fool four bats.
If so that's a bitter pill to swallow to think that someone can fool four bats at the same time and another can of worms altogether.
And speaking of a can of worms. The kid's voice can be heard clearly from the intercom, saying what he remembers.
"I...I'm not really sure."
"It seems so surreal like a dream, it was raining hard and I was lying in cold stone floor, water pooling around me and... and also blood. I think it was my blood, I was bleeding. The pain... and I think something was sticking out here.
From the screen, Tim can clearly see how the kid hand went to his abdomen, and from how both his companions stiffen, he knows he's not the only one who caught the gravity of the situation.
At least that answered some of the question they have. The reason the kid is in the pit is because the kid died. Someone out there want to resurrect the kid. The question is who wants to resurrect the kid? And above all why? Why resurrect the kid? Is he a part of some grand scheme or just an innocent bystander caught in the chaos.
But that's just a dream, right? I mean I'm not in pain, only a bit of an headache. So it must be just a nightmare.
Tim sucked in a breath. The kid thinks it's all dream, granted it may be better for the kid mental health to believe it to be one.
On the other hand that make it so much harder for them to get to the bottom of this matter. It seems to Tim that the universe is making this as difficult as possible with how little information they were able to gather and go by.
There are so many questions but have no answer. The only lead they have that could give the answer they want is the kid that possibly has an amnesia.
Great, just great, and quoting Jason "fanf*ckingtastic".
Author's Notes:
1. I think that demigods are a bit mentally strong compared to ordinary people, that means Jason Grace is not immune to the effects of the pit, but the side effect are also not as pronounce as it is on Jason Todd.
2. Am I so scatterbrained that I already started writing the epilogue rather than the next chapter. The next chapter will hopefully be out by March.
3. I really thought I could finish this chapter during the holidays, but for some reason, I seem to be busier during the holidays compared to regular days. Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same?
