Qori Guadaña

Grandmama's silence is bothering me. She's been silent after seeing the Dan'yaku Talisman I received.

She told me to go upstairs and relax while she is in her office, staring outside, letting out a deep sigh. I can't even focus of the movie I'm watching.

Bzzt!

My phone beside me rang and saw Leos' name flashed the screen.

"Qori! Something's off about my grandpa"

"What do you mean?"

"It's a long story, but I'll make it short"

"Okay okay, continue"

"This morning, there's a package addressed to me. It's not an ordinary package tho, I have to crack a code for it to open" he explained hurriedly, trying to catch his breath. Panting eh?

Is this a coincidence or what?

"After I solved it, grandpa entered my room and this shocked and worried face is written all over his face! He stared at me for a damn minute! then left"

"So what about it? Your grandpa is old, normal siguro 'yon"

"He's not like that, remember when we unboxed the package our friend from Paris gave? Sumali pa nga siya nun diba?"

"Okay? So.. 'bat mo naisipan na something's off?"

"I followed him to his room, found him staring at the sky, maybe crying?"

Tell me this is a coincidence, my grandmama acted the same.

"Leos.."

"Hm?"

"My grandmama acted that way too" I lowered my voice so that she won't hear me talking about her.

"Really? How?"

"Can we facetime? So that I can show you these stuffs" I said and glanced at the silver box on the table.

Leos ended up coming here to see these stuffs for himself, he also brought his.

He's now examining my talisman with wrinkled forehead.

The box we got has similarities, from the size, down to the process on how to open it: the cipher and the 'happy birthday'. But the difference between them are the color, mine is silver while his is black.

"Qori? Is this somehow related to our grandparents? Grandpa used to tell me that he was a swordsman when he was in our age"

"My grandmama told me the same. She was a girl who held a sword, I don't know the rest, she won't tell more"

"Same for my gramps"

The doorbell rang and my grandmama went for it. We heard footsteps on the way to her office.
