Jacobs POV
I made a right turn into the woods. It's a really short trail to the bridge so I went slowed than usual. Tanner was right beside me since the trail was so wide. I didn't tell him where we where going and I'm actually surprised that he hasn't realized. Alex doesn't care she's over it but it's still awkward for Tanner. The background between then includes a two and a half year relationship. Everyone thought that they were the golden couple. They "never" fought, but when they were alone, or thought they were, they were sometimes bickering about something. One time Alex even gave up because he started the stupidest fight and we all knew who would win, her. But every time they fought they would always make up and when they climb out of the loft, that's where they usually fought, Alex will be calm and collected and go straight for a hug from Tanner and make a beeline to a stall. As we were almost to the bridge. Tanner stops "Why are we here, Jacob?"
"It's Alex's relaxing spot." "So, this is also where we used to disappear to."
"To bad this is her calm spot, her party spot and sometimes her bow range."
"Fine, whatever."I heard Friends in Low Places when I got close enough. I had to smile at that one. When we got to a spot where could see and hear her but she couldn't see us. Of course she had her dog, Dallas, those two are like best friends. Alex and Dallas always seem to be together. The spoiled dog even has a doggie bed in her room. They were playing fetch with a tennis ball that was probably on BB (Big Beauty) when we crossed the bridge. Me and Tanner had to cross one at a time because of weight.
"Dallas, look its your friends. J and Tanner." Alex said, smiling. She normally has a fake smile but I love moments like these were you catch a real one. I see then a lot but it always makes me happy when I do.
"You bring the stuff?" Alex questioned to me, that's how we say hi. It's either that or did you hide the body.
"Yea I brought the stuff. You bring your half of the deal?" I responded. She simply just tossed me a roll of Smarties. YAY. I love smarties. I bet the girl always has candy, earbuds, pocket knife, pliers, and her phone on her at all times. It's almost creepy. The candy part. We were all laughing until it suddenly turned really quite, even the dog was frozen. Alex and Tanner both ran to BB of course she has a 22 in her storage compartment. How did I forget? Once Alex got it we all froze and looked around. I'm guessing we are all having the same feeling. Someone or something else is here. Alex, Tanner, and Dallas all looked over the bridge on the trail back to the pond. My back was facing the trail. That's what was scaring me most. I could feel something watching me. I hope Alex isn't nervous when she shoots and even if she is she'll use BB or Tanner as a rest. When me her animals or her family is involved you can read her eyes if you try. In her eyes is fear. The same emotion is in Tanners. I'm freaking terrified, those are the two most fearless people I know. But right now they look so fearful it's scary. Alex raised the 22 and moves over to Tanner and hands it off. "He has a better shot." She says. She talked quietly so it's am animal. I slowly look around.
