"hey."
haneul felt a light tap on her shoulder.
"hm?" she turned in her seat, opening her eyes. jisung's face filled her vision. her eyes widened as she moved back a little, taken aback by his closeness.
"sorry, did i scare you?" jisung moved back a bit. shadows were casted over his face, hiding the slight blush of his cheeks. "we've reached."
"oh." she answered simply, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes as she took her bag, following him out of the car.
they entered the café and ordered some drinks. they sat down and waited for the drinks.
"so," jisung began, taking out his notebook. "i just finished writing."
she clapped her hands excitedly. "are you gonna let me hear?"
"sure." he opened the notebook and passed it to her, taking his phone out of his bag and played it out, loud enough for only her to hear.
she told me, what you need is a course in love, that way you'll find an angel that'll settle on you from far above, but just be careful they've no angle, for you see, even angels, sometimes have their angles.
but i said, love is pure and thus it's simple and i believed in the possibility of a partner perfect meant just for each person— i said it'd be magnetic, and that already should could feel the pull but just not see the face.
she told me, we've all got an empty space, that's what keeps us going. and then she said, a soulmate would be a kind of death— if she found her own, she'd surely have to run, and she'd run and she'd run and she'd run just as faraway as she could from that soulmate, yes, she would.
but i said, there's all kinds of deaths, and some are sweet. that sure we die, but then we live again in the arms of our true love.
well, what are you going to do with a girl like that— i kissed her good, i did, and then she leaned back and she said, well, i suppose, at least for now you'll do.
and that was that— i'd found my soulmate true.
her heart swarmed, hearing the how good he used his words that he wrote for his soulmate. but in her heart, she feared that she would just disappoint him later.
her eyes brimmed with tears as she put down the phone onto the table. she lifted her head to meet jisung's accepting gaze. he tilted his head and smiled."how was it?"
"it's really sweet," she smiled, discreetly wiping the tears off with the back of her hand. "if my soulmate wrote this for me, i would have fallen for them and never get out." she chuckled.
"that's good to hear." he stood up, pulling her along. "let's pay for the drinks."
