Chapter 24: Hang Out

"I can't keep spending my morning freeing you from Varian's traps." Valor scolds as she frees Ruddiger from the goo snare. This was the third morning in a row. That the raccoon had set the animal traps off. Ruddiger chittered happily as he got free. Snatching the apples he dashed off. Rolling her icy blue eyes, Valor reset the trap once more. "This would be more effective if Ruddiger would stop setting this off every time. Ah, there we go." Valor smiled as the trap once refilled and set once more.

For last few days the animals around Corona have been acting strange. Many have moved more into the town. Which menat Valor had to keep the wolves and other predators away from the livestocks. Valor carefully rubbed her temples as a growing tension formed.

Valor then made her way to Old Corona. I wish I knew what's gotten everyone spooked. At first everything was fine, but more birds refused to leave the walls of Corana. A hawk even said something about danger and rocks. Valor was starting to question what could be out there.

"Laver!" Her head shot up as she Varian wave her down. He stood outside his lab. Valor waved and pushed whatever it as to the back her mind. "Sorry I late, Ruddiger set off one of your critter traps again." Valor shot the racoon a icy blue stare.

"You don't miss much, dad just left and I heading back in." Valor followed him into the lab. "After you pointed out the problem I was having , I been redesigning it a bit, so it doesn't happened again." Valor pulled a brown apron over her clothes and snatched a spare set of googles. "Let me guess up all night redesign and making a new chemical compound to use with it?"

"Yes!" Varian said. Valor stiffed a giggle as she looked over the new design. "Hmm.. you might want to try another compound than this one." Valor suggested as she turned to where is viles of alchemy elixirs where kept. "Try something that has a less chance of exploding when mixed."

It wasn't often Valor made suggestions. Varian usually figured things out on his own and Valor would help deign whatever he need for the chemical compound he had made. "I've been mix a few new chemicals together, but I haven't found the right one yet."

Valo grins as she grabs two empty beakers and set them down. "Well, then let's but your brains together and find something that will work." she offered. For next few hours of the morning the two worked together. Varian was mixing the compounds while Valor found herself looking over the machine Varian had. It felt great to finally be working along side Varian again. Valor was letting him do all the work since it was is experiment after all.

It was ruffly pass noon now was her guess. Hunger was nawing at her stomach. Pushing her googles up. "Hey, Var, I am going in to make lunch." she said setting down the tools. Varian was measuring two chemicals together. Ruddiger watching im his own mini pair of goggles on. "I'll come back in and get you okay." "Yeah, sure take your time."

Valor moved about the kitchen throwing together sandwiches and other food. Getting him to take a break would be hard, but neither of them had breakfast so, this would be easy. Snagging the drinks last she made her way back outside. Setting the down near the door Valor went into the lab and dragged Varian back out. Once his eyes adjusted to the sunlight they found a spot and sat down. Ruddiger took one of apples and ate.

Valor used one of her daggers she got from Xavier to cut the rest of the apple into slices. Varian was explaining to her about the project and what he was hopping to create from it. "Did you ever take part in a expo?" Valor shook her head. "Never. I wasn't around long enough."

Leaning on the tree behind her. "This will be the first Expo for me ever."

"Why not create something to show then?" The black haired girl shook her head. "I am an inventor like you. I prefer sicking with making elixirs and medicines."

Since she came to Corona. She strangely found herself fitting in. Something that she never found while traveling about. Within these six months she had made friends and created bonds that she could only dream about. Sure the shepherds weren't her biggest fans, that was understandable. So far life here was going great. Maybe this is where I am meant to be.
