The Eyes In The dark

Close to midnight, it is said that if you wonder into the woods alone, your deepest darkest fear is to arise and kill you right before you realize what has just happened
Many folks claim to have heard these kinds of events happen through loud, inhumane howls and roars coming from the woods each night before someone has gone missing
But one brave traveller never heard of such tales and went into the woods, at night, for a walk to clear his mind from the break-up he had just had
The moon shone bright that night, the wind stronger than ever before.
The starlight filled the skyline and shone between the gloomy trees
It all seemed so creepy, yet equally peaceful
Young, handsome and tall Rick Dines was walking through these woods, minding his own business as he crackles through the fallen leaves and twigs
*swish swish* came from a nearby bush, Rick stopped right in his tracks, refusing to turn behind and face what is there. He thought of plans to escape and tricks he’d use to keep it back if it attacked.
*crack* this came from a few metres ahead of him, drenched in sweat, he moves his shivering hand closer to the bush the snap of the twig came from.
He opens the bush and gets startled as he sees a rabbit hop out to him.
A sense of relief runs through is his veins until he notice’s a huge footprint in the mud ahead.
Curious, Rick goes ahead and tries to uncover it. The tracks looked like those of a buck and a humans combined, it had the heel of a buck and the toes of a human. It was quite a strange sight to see
Further down the path, he faced what he feared he’d see. In the distance, stood a dark figure in between the trees, too dark to point out facial or body features. All that could be seen was it’s dark red eyes and glimmering smile exposing its teeth that were larger than those of blades
Suddenly the eyes and smile vanish along with the figure
Scared for his life, Rick runs and books it for the nearest exit he could find in the woods
No exit could be seen but the creature was toying with Rick as it threw rocks, gave low grunts and chased after him, closing in by the second.
A highway could now be seen and with all the remaining strength in his body, Rick gave everything he had to make it to the highway and get to safety
The creature was not to far behind as u could hear the trees and ground start to vibrate harder and harder with each step it took, it was right behind him, and Rick knew it
He pushed and pushed and made it onto the highway and ran to the opposite side of the road, right below a street lamp, he turns back to see what was after him. But all he saw was the same eyes and smile glaring at him from the trees of the forest. He watched it carefully as it watched him while it slowly moved back into the woods, then gone
Relieved, Rick falls to his knees to try and catch a breathe.
The loudest, demonic roar that u could ever hear suddenly came from the woods with the creature charging from the trees and lunching itself into the air as it came down towards Rick.
