Never did I know ... that this is also the very moment where it all comes crashing down.

"Luke Zacharion, we came to invite you." The one who raised his hand said.

"May I politely ask where you are inviting me?" I asked, dumbfounded.

"Oh excuse us. We are the Ordinaries' Hunter Defense Association. We came here to scout you into becoming a trainee in the association. Your skills proved to be up to the standard of the criteria of becoming a suitable candidate. With your great talent and wisdom proved to be so." The one who raised his hand earlier introduced themselves to us.

"How can we be so sure that you are?" Arthur shielded me at the front.

"You have no right to question us." He said as he shoved him to the side rather forcefully, making him fell on the sandy ground.

"Hey! Why did you do that to Art!" Mildred snapped, attacking them by activating his treasure and then directing a thunder strike after chanting.

"You don't stand a chance against me!" He said, attacking back at him without a chant at all.

'What?' was the only thing I could think of as I barely followed his movements with my sight, sending Mildred away before hitting the school building.

With that, I snapped, quickly running as fast as I can to Mildred.

As I scanned through him, I saw him unconscious with blood trickling down his head.

I lost all thought. My mind in shambles. With that, winds began gathering around me as I turned back to face them and pounced myself to them.

"WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DO THAT?! YOU'RE MERELY INVITING ME RIGHT?! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO HURT MY FRIENDS!" I shouted angrily at them and then I unconsciously gripped his neck at a speed of light with my right hand after successfully charging at them very quickly. And then, having some very cranky fingers in my left hand due to anger, I shove it in front of his face and a white translucent orb appeared, which seemed to be sucking something. Unknowingly, I pushed it to his face, forming a creamy beam ray that straight-out went up to the sky, knocking the man out. The four just stood there.

As the beam faded, the person I attacked has jumped back, unscathed. He seemed to have evaded the sudden attack quickly. Just then, the atmosphere turned quiet.
Some left there at the audience stands saw what happened as they looked shocked, which seemed to turn to sadness that seemed pointed at me.

Is it because of what I did?

"What a shame..." "Why him out of all people?" "Seems like we've lost another genius..."

These lines that I heard startled me. Thinking about what happened and glancing at Arthur looking at me, I glanced at my hands before realizing that I did something out of the ordinary. Realizing that, I tried to reason it all out.

"Wait! ... Wait! This is not what it looks like ... I- I- didn't know what I did at all!" I spoke, trembling with an agonizing expression.

"Luk-e... you're a variant?" Arthur said as he looked at me, painfully shocked.

What... a variant?

I thought as what he said echoed through my mind,

"No ... no! That was not me! I swear! I don't even know! I-" I stopped, beginning to sync in what happened, thinking while feeling my head is about to split in two due to the quick throbbing.

Then...

All my hard work ... my dedication ... my training every night ... for these past three years.

It was for nothing?

...

Why did it have to be like this?

...

WHY THE HECK DID IT COME TO THIS?!

...

This is the worst thing that can happen to me!

...

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY!!

I thought while panicking as I cried, immensely.

It felt like being shattered.

My whole being...

I can't accept this!

I was a genius of our generation!

I control the battlefield with great skills!

I worked hard to get where I am!

I persevered!

Why did I fall down like this?

It shouldn't be this way!

How did I deserve this?

Being overtaken with horror and anxiety, I fled away from the field.

"Wait! Luke!" Hearing Arthur stopping me, I crunched my face as I retreat.

At that moment, I seemed to step on something, which made me turn back my head...

Only to see that ...

our championship trophy, broke.
