When Sam walked into the motel room around 10:30, he was surprised to find Dean asleep on one of the beds, and Castiel gone. He shook Dean, and said, "Hey, Dean, wake up."
"Cas..." Dean mumbled, and rolled over.
"Dude, shut up. It's Sam. Cas is gone." Sam said, shaking him again.
"Cas..." Dean mumbled again.
Sam decided to go outside and try to call the angel to see where he was.
"Cas! I don't know where you are or why you left, but get back down here, I need to talk to you!"
There was a flutter of wings, and then Castiel appeared behind Sam. "Hello, Sam," He said quietly.
Sam turned around and said, "Why did you leave? We still need your help with this hunt!"
Castiel looked down and whispered, "I don't believe Dean thinks so."
"What are you talking about?" Sam asked with confusion.
"I attempted to help you, and Dean got upset with me and ignored me all night. He avoided any contact with me at all. I kept trying to hear his thoughts, but they were blocked from me." Cas looked up at Sam, "It appears Dean thinks I am no longer of service to you. I will leave you both alone."
Sam grabbed his arm and said, "Wait, why would you think that Dean doesn't want you here? He loves having you around."
Castiel opened his mouth as if to speak, but quickly decided against it and closed it. "Goodbye Sam." There was a flutter of wings, and then Castiel was gone.
"What the hell could Dean have done to make him act this way?" Sam mumbled as he walked back into the motel and closed the door.
