Divergent (No War)

Chapter Three

Everyone in the room gasps again but the Dauntless they're cheering. I grab a bandaid and slowly walk over to my new home.

"Welcome to Dauntless!" A boy says to me.

I take a seat and let out a sigh.

Did I make the right decision?

I really didn't pay after my name was called. I zoned out thinking about what I've done. What I've done to my parent's reputation.

After the ceremony was over we followed the Dauntless borns our of the building. Everyone was cheering and laughing. I couldn't help but put a smile on my face. We run out of the building and into the streets where every other factions moves for us. The cheering grew louder and louder and I finally decided to join in. I feel so free.

We run until we're under the railroad tracks for the cart. All of the others began to climb and I followed behind. Climbing wasn't that difficult for me because I used to climb tree with Caleb all the time. I reach the top and see the train cart coming towards us. I take a breath thinking it would stop for us but it didn't. I run alongside the cart until I got close to the handle. I jump and grab it and pull myself in.

"You made it." A girls voice says.

I turn my head and see the white and black cloths of the Candor girl.

"I'm Christina." She say giving me her hand.

"Beatrice." I smile back.

Christina and I talk until we are told to get ready by one of the Dauntless. I get up and look outside of the train cart. We approach a building and see everyone starting to jump.

"They're jumping." I say to Christina.

"What?!" She says with confusion.

Obviously we both were in shock but I should've expected it because we are Dauntless now.

"Together?" I ask.

"Together." Christina says.

I count to three and we both jump from the cart. I try to land on my feet but I end up rolling onto the ground. It didn't hurt that much because the ground was filled with tire scraps. I look over towards Christina and we both start to laugh.

We walk towards one of the Dauntless leaders and he introduces himself.

"I'm Eric, I'm one of your leaders here at Dauntless. There is only one way into Dauntless and that is jumping off this edge." He says pointing the the edge.

"We just jumped and they want us to jump again?" Christina whispers to me.

"Well someone has to go first." Eric states. "Who's it going to be?"

Everyone is silent. No one says anything. Everyone just stares at each other. I take a breath and speak up.

"I'll go."

Eric seems to be surprised, I mean I am Abnegation. I make my way through everyone and look over the edge. I can feel Eric's eyes on me. I remove my jacket and I can hear the same boy from Candor who was yelling at Abnegation.

"Take it off Stiff." He laughs. "Put it back on."

I ignore his comment and climb onto the edge. I look down once again and take a deep breath.

"Today initiate." Eric says.

That's when I jump.

I feel myself being caught by a net. I bounce once I hit it. After I just let out a laugh, but I feel the net being pulled. I look over and see a boy.

"What, did you get pushed?" He asks me.

"No." I respond.

He offers me his hand and I gladly except. He pulled me off the net.

"What's your name?" He asks.

"It's Beatri..." I stumble.

He tilts his head, "is it a hard one? You can change it if you'd like but make it good you only get one."

"My name's Tris." I smile.

He looks me up and down a kinda smirks.

"First jumper, Tris!" He yells. "Welcome to Dauntless."

After everyone has jumped the guy states that the Dauntless horn should go with Lauren. Now all of us newbies are left.

"My name is Four and I'll..." he says until he's cut off.

"Four?" Christina questions. "Like the number?"

"Exactly like the number." He says.

"What happened one through three were taken?" She jokes making some people chuckle.

"What's your name?" Four asks walking towards Christina.

"Christina." She says.

That's when Four got close to her.

"Well Christina, the first thing you learn from me is to shut your mouth. Do I make myself clear?" He says.

Christina nods her head.

"Good." Four states. "Follow me."

"This is the pit, center of life here at Dauntless." Four states.

Four shows us the rest of the places in Dauntless. He showed us the chasm, the infirmary and the training room.

"Next I'll be taking you to where you will be staying for the next 10 weeks." Four says.

As Four was guiding us to our bunkers I notice that he has a tattoo on his neck that seems to go to his back. It looks kinda cool, I wonder what it is.

"Here we are." Four says.

"So are the boys and girls separate?" Someone asks.

"Nope." He says. "You'll all new sleeping together."

This makes me feel uncomfortable but others seem to be thrilled by this.

"Get dressed and meet me in the dinning hall." Four says walking out of the room.

We all get dressed and then we're led to a furnace to burn our old faction's cloths. This was it, I'm officially a Dauntless initiative.

Hello my lovelies, I thought I'd shake a few things up and write a story about the Divergent Series! I kid you not I've watched all 3 movies multiple times during quarantine. I totally forgot how in love I am with the series:)) I hope you guys are enjoying the book so far and don't be afraid to comment any idea you may have!!
