Marshall POV
------------------
We waited in silence. The silence was unbearable it was as if it was nipping at my skin tasting me. I saw Chase wait at the back of the room in the corner his eyes looking at his shoes. When he looked up his eyes looked at mine and I could read his expression clearly. "We weren't supposed to leave Carmon but it was best for everyone else" it read. I was about to walk over to him but as soon as I took a step the ground shook and rumbled. People started backing away from the window as the building let lose and leaned to one side. Then I heard it before the explosion happen. As the bomb went off glass flew inward. People ducked there heads for cover. The building ached as it leaned even farther to the right almost collapsing. People rushed to the left side of the building hoping it would subside. I knew we had to get to lower ground. "We have to move." I said to no one in particular and ran down the stairs hoping they would follow. Lucky I heard a hundred feet pound behind me down fifty flights if stairs. Some who couldn't wait jumped over the edge of the stair case down the middle, probably the muscles. Others slid down the railings, brains. Some used illusions and made clouds the float safely to the bottom, illusionist. The rest, the leaders saw the nearest window and jumped. The first to disappear out the windows was Christina, then Chase, and Marcy, and so on and so forth. I followed closely on their heels as I jumped out the window. As we fell through the air we were straight. Our arms glued at our sides, legs together, and our toes pointed. Arrow position. That's when the entire building collapsed. We were 3 feet above the ground, free falling. I looked at the others, they seemed confident. Now 2 feet we were still in arrow position. 1 feet at the last second they turned in the air flipping and as they flipped they landed smoke surrounded them. When the smoke cleared I saw all of the leaders, illusionist, brains, and muscles. Some had glass stuck to their skin but other wise they were fine. When I looked at Chase he was gone. I guess the others noticed as everyone went to find Chase were Crimson once was. Now it was broken, destroyed in bits and prices of glass, cement, dust. All of what they were trained for gone all of what I was trained for destroyed. Chase was moving giant pieces of rubble and plaster that covered the streets. Others did the same. I walked over to him, he was mumbling word I couldn't make out but the ones I did were "she has to be alive." He was talking about Carmon. I put my hand on him shoulder "Chase, she couldn't have made it. Not after that explosion. She's dead." I said. He stood up and looked at me. "She has to be alive. She is alive." He said walking past me. "Chase she's de-" I yelled after him. But the rest of the words were drowned out by a wirling sound. A helicopter sound. Everyone looked up and sure enough it was a helicopter Carmon standing at the edge of it in all of her red glory. She looked down upon us as someone in the helicopter handed her a bullhorn. "Attention fellow recruits Crimson has fallen yes but I am still standing and as long as I live crimson won't fall Crimson will rise again but this time better and more improved but until then my recruits you my continue your old life until then you won't be a part of Crimson." She said her hair blowing in the wind. As she ascended they cheered and whooped and hollered. They celebrated. Chase looked happy yet sad at the same time. I wonder why at least Carmon is alive. I saw Marcy coming towards me. "Hey." I said but she just dragged me away from the crowd into an ally. "Ok I like being dragged into a dark scary ally as much as the next guy but-" " I don't have time for you stupid game I have to tell you something important." She said her voice I a whisper. "What." I said this time serious. "Dracon, I don't know how, is alive." "What? How do you know?" "He sort of possessed my dad who I sort of knocked out with a vase who is sort of locked up in my basement as we speak." She said her voice getting higher with each word. "So you locked your dad in your basement?" "That's not the point just come with me but not where people can see us I don't want to be followed." "Ok." I said and we left slipping into the night. We reached her house and when we got to the door there was water? Pouring out from the inside. I looked at her and she looked back. We both wore a questioning expression. She opened the door, water rushing out wetting our sneakers. "Dad?" She called out. "In the kitchen." Said a male voice. She walked as I followed her to the kitchen were her father was cooking. What, I didn't know. She approached him slowly as if scared. I watched cautiously from the door way. She whispered something to him and he didn't look to happy. He turned to face me as he held a knife in his hand. He slammed the knife down on the counter top cutting it in half. "Are you ok sir?" I asked backing away slowly "you seem a little tensed." He moved his hand back towards marcy his eyes staring at me like a target. As his hand was towards marcy a drawer opened and out came duct tape. "Mar-" but that was all she could say as the duct tape was put around her mouth and around her arms and legs"hello cousin it's time to finish what we stared." Dracon. I turned to my vampire form. "What do you want from me Dracon? Who brung you you back?" I asked. "Well I think it's safe to say that a little red birdie made me a deal I couldn't refuse." He said smiling. "Little red birdie?" I said confused until it donned in me. "Carmon?" "Ding ding ding you win a prize." He said sarcastically. Marcy yelled/ mumbled something as if she said 'Carmon?!' "She has nothing to do with this Dracon let her go." I demanded. "Oh I know she's not what I want the man I'm possessing is. He wants to see his beloved Beatrice so bad let's let him shall we." Then he vanished with her dad. I ran to un tape marcy and we ran out the door. " were are we going!" She yelled. I though about it. Where would Dracon want to kill some one? Someplace high. The Statue of Liberty. "Grab my hand!" I yelled back. She hesitated but took it anyway. We both teleported to the top of the Statue of Liberty. When we got there Dracon was on the edge inside the man's body. "Doesn't this view look good from up here? To bad he wont see it much longer. Right Marshall?" He said with out turing around. "Let him go." I said. "As you wish." He came out of the man's body letting him fall off the building. I dove after him leaving Marcy alone with Dracon.
*Marcy's POV*
"Dad!" I screamed then faced Deacon. I felt angry and sad at the same time. "You." I said. "Me." Dracon said back. Thunder boomed over head and the wind changed direction. Rain pounded the statue as dark clouds rolled in a circular motion. "Why?" "To get revenge. Not just on Marshall for being an idiot but on you for killing me and because your-" he was talking way to much so I put him in a shadow case where he can't escape. Marshall came floating up but without my father. "Where's my dad?" I asked he looked up at me "I couldn't reach him in time." "No." "I'm sor-" "no! His not dead he has to be ok!" I said running to the edge of the statue about to jump but marshall pulled me back by my shirt. "Let me go!" I yelled "I have to save him!" "You can't I've already tried it no use if you jump down there then you will die!" He raved. "I have to try!" I said struggling to get out of his grasp by beating on his chest. He let me go. I stood at the edge and looked down. "You won't do it." He said. "How would you know?" "Because if you would you would have done it already." He was right I wouldn't do it. I couldn't do it. I let the tears fall and wished that this was a dream but the truth hurt. "Take me home." He stood beside me as I gripped his hand. We teleported to my house without another word. As we arrived I opened the door. I didn't know what to do anymore. I walked across the living room to the couch and sat down. Marshall followed and sat next to me. I felt a mixture of emotions boil inside of me. Anger because I couldn't save him, sadness because he's gone, and loneliness. Now I finally know what it feels like when my father lost Beatrice; incomplete, broken. An hour passed went Marshall said he was leaving. "Wait could you please stay? just for tonight I don't think I could stay in this house by myself." I asked. " but you don't have to if you don't want to." He looked back at me with his hand on the door knob. He opened the door and left without saying a word. I guess he didn't care or never cared. A few minutes later a knock was at the door. I didn't care who it was so I just opened it without looking up to see. "Where should I put this?" It was Marshall with the shadow case that contained Dracon. I smiled at him and pointed to the corner to the left. As he put it in the corner I saw Chase, Fionna, and Katlyn. "Oh I also picked up a few more packages." Marshall said and Chase, Fionna, and Katlyn crush me in a group hug. "Hey guys." I said smiling as they let me go. My smile quickly faded away as the memory of my father crept it's way back into my mind. "Hey we're sorry about your dad." They said sympathetically. I push up against the wall and sigh as I slide down. "Yeah I know." "Anything we could do to help cheer you up?" Fionna asked. "Yeah how about we do hand to hand combat oh how about we practice illusions or maybe we could fight aliens that came to take over ear-" Katlyn said enthusiastically. I laughed "I don't know about all of that kate." "How about we just watch a movie?" Chase insisted. We all shook our heads yeah. Katlyn choose the movie "Now you see me". Chase fell asleep in the first five minute while Fiona was out during the previews. Katlyn tapped in my shoulder I turned "what about him he's just over there looking at whatever the heck that is. Talk about crazy. I think he's a weirdo." She said. I rolled my eyes at her as she continued to watch the movie. I got up and went over to Marshall. I guess I scared him cause when I said 'hey' he jumped a little. "Oh hey." He said. "Whatcha doing over here by yourself?" I asked. "Noth-" he started but his eyes drifted from me to behind me. I turned to see what he was looking at when I felt breathing on my neck. "Whatcha two talking about?" Katlyn said while breathing down my back. "We are talking about science-" I started but Katlyn cut me off "ugh I've heard enough!" Then she turned and went back to her movie. "Come on let's go talk outside." I said in a whispery voice heading for the door. He followed. We stepped outside in the cold frigid air. "Are you cold?" He asked. "Nope." I said but my teeth were chattering like crazy. "Here." He said giving me his plaid shirt. He stood in nothing but a tank top and jeans. I took the shirt finally. "So I don't know if this is a bad time to ask this but what are you exactly?" He said. I thought about it. "I don't really know." I said. He was typing something on his phone. "A vex." He said. "What?" "Your a vex, a human like creature who has powers which are controlled through fingers for most but rarely by nose and the rarest is by eyes. Born from two humans with the vexed bloodline. Strong and more powerful than most mythic creatures. Enemies: werewolves, vampires, and leprechauns?" I stared at him as his voice trailed on. "So your saying I'm some magical creature whose enemies with leprechauns?" I asked. "Yeah pretty much." He said. "Do you know what this means? I'll never eat lucky charms again!" I thought I saw a tug at his mouth maybe a smile maybe my imagination. He sat down on the steps as I sat beside him. Together we sat in silence. I didn't know what he was thinking but I knew what I was thinking about. The memory kept replaying again and again in my head. The memory of my dad falling off the Statue of liberty.
