Chapter 3

Tanjiro's P.O.V.

"Then...How do I finish him?" I ask. 'I couldn't hear his footsteps'

"You need to ask? Can you not think for yourself?" The man said

"Hey Tanjiro, think fast," The voice of Nee-chan said.

I turn to see a rock coming straight to my face. I somehow caught it. I turn to the head. 'Crushing its skull with this stone will require a lot of solid blows... it will suffer. Isn't there some way I can end it with one fell stroke.'

I was thinking when the head started to wake up. I turn to the head and saw a Nee-chan cut the head in half. It didn't kill the head but the sun did. Nee-chan put her hand up in a prayer way and whisper some words before walking to the temple.

(Y/n) P.O.V.

"Lord please make sure that this person next life is a good one and they don't turn into a demon" I whisper before walking to the temple. I peek inside to see if is Nezuko ok. Nezuko was ok. I walk to the man, Tanjiro next to me. We watch as the man gave the poor people a burial. After he finishes he walks to us.

"I'm Urokodaki Sakonji. I assume you are the two Giyu spoke of."

"Yes sir, I'm Kamado (Y/n), this is my brother Tanjiro. Our sister's name is Nezuko and... " I was cut off before I could finish.

"(Y/n), Tanjiro. What will you do if your sister decides to feast on a human?"

Tanjiro hesitates while I answered.

"Kill her and then kill myself"

Urokodaki tried to slap me and Tanjiro. Key word tried.

I block both of the hand that was going to slap me and Tanjiro. My face is emotionless as ever.

"Tanjiro, you hesitate too long. You are slow to decide things. You couldn't even finish the demon. Your sister had to finish him. Why did you not answer my question without delay? It's because your determination is lacking. If your sister were to eat someone, you would need to do two things. Like your sister said you must kill her and then kill yourself. That is what it means to travel with your demon sister. You must ingrain in your heart that this is something that must not happen. Do not let your sister take an innocent life. It must not come to pass. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

"YES!!"

"Yes"

Both of us said. (Guess who said what)

"Well then... I will now proceed to test you to find out if you have what it takes... to be a demon slayer. Bring your sister and come with me."

Tanjiro puts Nezuko into the basket and carries it even though I said I can carry it. Tanjiro shook his head and said

"You already slay the demon. I could at least carry Nezuko"

I smile a little at my little brother.

"Ok then let's go"

I was running next to Tanjiro. He was clearly sweating. Nezuko was on my back. While running I made Tanjiro give me Nezuko. I was bearly sweating. Back in the forest, I had to be fast to chase and kill my prey. I glance at Tanjiro and knew that he is thinking about turning Nezuko back into a human. After a while, we reach his house.

"So... So now... Did we... pass the test" Tanjiro said between breaths.

"The test starts now. Hike through the mountain." Urokodaki said.

I knew Tanjiro was tired so I crouch in front of him my back facing him.

"Get on," I said in a monotone voice. I felt a weight on my back as I lift up and follow Urokodaki. After we reach a place Urokodaki stopped. I could hear Tanjiro (still on my back) breathing heavily. 'It's probably because of air up here' I was also breathing heavy but not as much as Tanjiro.

"Your goal is my house in the foothills of the mountain. This time I won't wait until dawn" As he is saying this I put Tanjiro down.

After that, he vanishes. I turn to Tanjiro.

"Did you locked on to Urokodaki-san's scent?" I ask. "I can't see his footstep in this fog"

"Yes"

We started making our way down the mountain. Tanjiro in front and me behind him. Suddenly Tanjiro stumbles forward. I saw something coming at Tanjiro and push him aside. I dodge the rock as Tanjiro fell into a pitfall. I help Tanjiro get up from the pitfall. After I pulled him up I tackle him to the ground as a log flies over us.

"Tanjiro this place is filled with traps. Sniff them out and then follow me. I will trigger the trap so you can pass through it. I can dodge most of the traps anyway. Also, breathe slowly, it will help your head." Tanjiro nods and we continue to make our way down the mountain. Tanjiro pointing out traps and me triggering them. Every so often I will get hit by a rock or a log but I made sure Tanjiro wasn't hurt most of the time. I mean what kind of sister would I be if I let my younger brother get hurt. (Btw at this time Tanjiro is 13 and (Y/n) is 16. Sorry for the big gap.) Even though the gap between us was big we always get along. We wear nearing the foot of the mountain when Tanjiro collapse. He was still conscious just very tired. I sighed and piggyback him all the way to the house. The reason I was not as tired as Tanjiro was is that I been doing something like this every day. The animal in the forest that we use to live in is very cautious of people, so it would take a while to chase them and that helps me build up my stamina. When we reach the house I open the door.

"We made it back," I said lightly panting. Tanjiro has fallen asleep on my back. We were both dirty from the trip. I place him down on the floor as I help Urokodaki set out mats for Tanjiro, Nezuko, and I to sleep on. I pick up Tanjiro and Nezuko and lay them on the mat. I then lay down on my mat getting ready for training the next day.
