C.HOOD -

school runs by fast and before i knew it, it's 3 pm and the bell rings signaling school is out. i sigh in relief and get out of my desk and slinging my backpack on. i look around my chemistry classroom and see saturn putting a noteback inside her backpack. she groans in frustration, not being able to fit it in her bulky backpack.

i walk towards her while she still tries to fit her notebook inside her bag.

"need some help?" i ask her, smiling. i see some of her colored hair bangs covering her face as she looked down. noticing my voice, she looks up and puts her hair behind her ear. she smiles.

"calum! im so glad to see a familiar face. and no, i dont need any help. thanks anyways." she replies to me. she continues to try to push back a few textbooks in her bag to make space, but fails. i didnt want to see her struggle anymore, so i speak up.

"saturn, it's okay! i gotchu." i laugh. while grabbing for the notebook, my hand accidentally touches her left hand and we both freeze.

i see she wears black nail polish and her hands are very tiny and pale. she has a skull middle finger tattoo on her left hand and an "x" middle finger tattoo on her right hand. she wears some rings on her fingers and i thought it looked pretty cool.

she jolts her hands back and puts them on her hips.

"okay, calum. let's see if you can try to fit in my notebook in this monstrosity backpack of mine." she says, smirking. i roll my eyes and take out two of her textbooks and put it on the table. i grab her notebook and slide it in. i zip up her backpack and all saturn does is look at me with laughing eyes.

"wow, calum. why didnt i think of that." she sarcastically says. i chuckle, crossing my arms.

"i did fit your notebook in your backpack. so i win!" i exclaim, happily. she scoffs.

"the reason why i didnt do that is because i didnt want to carry heavy textbooks while i walk all the way to my job downtown. i'd rather carry them in my backpack. that's what backpacks are for, genius." she says, rolling her eyes. i laugh and grab her textbooks and start walking out of the classroom's door.

i hear saturn call my name when i reach outside the classroom so i turn around.

"calum? what the hell? you dont have to carry my books." she says, slapping my arm as she reaches my side. i roll my eyes.

"youre the one who said you didnt want to carry heavy textbooks, so i'll do it for you." i say in a duh voice. she groans.

"youre not walking all the way downtown where my job is with me just to carry my books. youre delusional." she says, frowning. we continue to walk all the way out of school. we stop right when were about to cross the sidewalk to the students' parking lot.

"exactly. so that's why im giving you a ride to there. come on, my car's over there." i point towards my small grey jeep across from us. saturn looks at me with wide eyes.

"are you serious? youll give me a ride there?" she asks me. i nod, smiling. she shrieks with excitement and i smile. we cross the street to my car. we both hop in and i immediately start the car and pull out of the parking lot.

soft music plays in the background. i hear saturn's feet tapping to the beat of the music. a few seconds later, she speaks.

"thank you, calum. youre honestly a really great person for doing this." she softly says to me. i blush, feeling on top of the world from the compliment.

"it's nothing really, saturn." i reply. she nods looking out the window.

"so where is your job at?" i ask, turning towards downtown. i stop at a stoplight and see some popular kids walking together laughing about something. probably about me getting a new tattoo. the tattoo is a bird and underneath it is my sister's name, mali-koa. she's my best friend and she's always there for me, so i decided to get a tattoo dedicated to her. call en the best brother other or- well yeah just call me the best brother ever because I AM.

the stoplight turns green and i start to drive again.

"you turn left and it's right there." i do as she says and i park right by the few stores there. i stop the car and she gathers all her stuff.

"so which place do you work at?" i ask her. saturn points to the store in the middle of starbucks and a boutique shop.

"i work there, at that record shop." she smiles. my eyes widen at the familiar shop i go to all the time. saturn sees my reaction and raises her eyebrow.

"what's wrong, calum?" she curiously asks. i sigh a little.

"that's where one of my best friends, ashton works." i say in defeat.

"why would that matter?" saturn asks. i shake my head.

if ashton was there working, michael and luke were probably there hanging out. i couldnt tell her that michael called fucking dibs on her and was probably going to ask her out.

michael has this thing and if he likes a girl, he'll do whatever it takes to have them fall "in love" with him, which wouldn't take long because michael is a fucking romantic ass bitch.

i love michael and all, but i dont think saturn would look nice with a guy like michael. i think she'd look nice with guys that has brown hair with a blonde streak and brown eyes and has a fascination over tattoos and is called a "freak", also known as me.

"so, you ready?" i ask her. she nods and we both get out of the car and walk side by side together, oblivious on what was about to occur in the record shop.
