The next day I wake up and carry my pale yellow ball gown with flowers on it to the bathroom Mae and I share. I undress out of my night gown and go to the bathroom. I quickly change into my yellow gown as I hear Mae being to wake up. I make my way out of the bathroom and see the dress she has picked out for the day. Her dress is a long ball gown. It's a shade of prune purple with silver trim that crosses.
She waddles past me and into the bathroom and changes into it. When she walks out she says in a very sleepy voice, " Throw me the silver heels on the floor. Yes, those ones." I toss her the heels and she slips them on. I go into my own closet and pull out a light pink strap heels and put them on my feet. " Ready for breakfast?" I nod and she walks over to me and takes me by the arm and leads me to the dinning hall. We get breakfast which is Nectarine jelly or Apricot Jam on whet toast. There are fruits and yogurt and anything you can think of. The kitchen staff here really spoil you.
We get out food, I get toast and Mae gets eggs with bacon. We both get coffee to drink with our meals. " I really hate this fucking school. Oh, excuse my language, it's not " proper." She makes air quotes, which makes me laugh. " Yeah, this school is god awful. What's your enrollment story?" I ask as I take a bite of my toast. She smiles and sips her coffee. " I don't have much of one, my parents don't care what I do as long as I don't kill myself or others, I'm my own person and they respect that. They want me to be happy. I'm only here because it's tradition."
"Lucky." I murmurer and take a sip of my own coffee." What about you?" She says me as she picks up her bacon with her hand and wipes the grease from it on her dress. I smile before replying, " I don't think my parents will ever be pleased with what I do. I would read all the time and had no interest in being a good pet for a man one day." This makes Mae laugh and spit out coffee all over the table we are sitting at. " Seriously? They sounds like asses, I never want to meet them."
" You won't have too. What class do you have first again?" I say trying to change the conversation. I already know my face is burning with embarrassment, not from Mae's table manners but how she thinks she's gonna meet my parents. I mean we are friends... why would she need to meet them?" Mae sighs, " Table Manners, Cooking, and table placement. You?" I think to recall my schedule. " Dress making, or sewing in general." I say as I finish up my food. We leave our dishes at the table and Mae walks me to my class. " This is the end of the line for me, kiddo. See ya after back at the dorm?" I nod and smile as I head into class.
We are working on fixing up dresses, and male uniforms. Even though our kingdoms have maids and servants to do these things for us, we still need to learn to do them I suppose. Class is boring as ever and as soon as the music plays indicating class is over I rush out into the hall and meet up with Mae in front of the garden gates which is the halfway coming from both classes. " Skip prep with me. I have an idea."
Mae and I make our way back to our room and she sits down on my bed and looks at me. She has a suspicious grin on her face... she's up to no good I can tell. " I thought of a way to get out of this hell hole. We need to break the rules." I look at her, taking in what she just said. " What rules? Like certain ones?" Mae rolls her eyes. " No, all of them. Just at different times. It's gonna be great, we will go down in school history!" I sigh. " What about my parents, you said so yourself that they are asses, I would get killed for being kicked out!"
Mae scoots closer to me. " You would come live with me at my kingdom, duh." I'm blushing wildly now. " Really? Your parents would be okay with that?" Mae nods and smiles, she puts her hand on mine. " What do you say, Princess Luna?" I look down at her hand on mine. " I say we break the rules and get ourselves the hell out of here."
