A/N- I've changed this chapter quite a few times over the last couple months, this is the latest draft (there still might be some lingering typos but I'm comfortable with it for the time being.) Please enjoy.

Sevyn's POV

Sevyn got home around 5:00 with Quinn and Jess in tow. Why Quinn thought it would be a great idea to invite her over today, was an absolute mystery. Jess's attitude towards her had noticeably worsened. Her stiff posture and fixed forward gaze irritated her even more than her usual snide remarks, those were replaced with awkward silence. She deliberately ignored anything that Sevyn had to say or tried to speak over her, every chance she got.
Quinn being ever so pleased that her friend wasn't being mad at her, ignored Jess's rude behaviour. " You gotta understand that she feels betrayed by me, please just ignore it. She'll come around soon." She pleaded with Sevyn, when she had voiced her concerns over a cup of iced coffee earlier that afternoon.
"Fine." Sevyn muttered as her sister continued to stare at her hopefully with her large brown eyes. Quinn's grin was enough to set her mind at ease for a few hours.

"Could you listen out for the doorbell please ?"
"Sure."  Quinn quipped.  Sevyn took the stairs two at a time up to her room. She was beyond nervous and equally excited about today. It was less about the date and more about the prospect of her settling back into her old self.

She made her way into the bathroom, quickly undressing and stepping into the shower. She threw back her head and allowed the warm water to wash away the sticky face mask and the minty lavender Ayurvedic deep conditioner from her hair. Once the deep conditioner was all gone she quickly lathered herself with her pomegranate body wash. She was easily becoming addicted to the sickeningly sweet fruity smell of pomegranates and invested heftily in products that carried the fruity scent. She rinsed thoroughly then repeated the process, allowing the heat from the water to seep into her tensed muscles.

"Why did I have to wash my hair today?"  She groaned as she blotted at her dripping hair with a towel. "Leave-in-conditioner, moisturiser, oil then you're done, that's not so hard baby. You got this!" She coached herself in front of the mirror. As much as she loved her natural hair, wash days were usually the worse.
She was still relatively new to the natural hair movement—it had taken her 3 whole years to grow her hair which was mid-way down her back at the moment. Transitioning to her natural hair was both physically and mentally draining at times. There were days when she just wanted to be done with it but she was too proud of her progress to ever toy with the idea of frying her hair with chemicals ever again.

Thirty minutes later she had successfully moisturized her hair, oiled her scalp and styled her hair into medium sized rope twists securing the ends with golden accessories, Whew!.
She massaged strawberry scented body oil onto the skin of her arms and smoothly shaven legs while humming the tune to Nina Simone's 'Lilac Tree'. She gave herself a mental pat on back, she had managed to carry out her entire skin and hair care routine before Micah showed up.

By the time she completed her makeup there was a soft rapt on her bedroom door. "Vyn, Micah's here. He's in the living room." Shit. "I'll be down in minute!"  She hastily pulled out the dark green satin dress from her closet and slipped it on, along with the pair of gold heels she'd purchased. Adding a thin golden necklace, bracelet and pair of small golden hoops she gave herself a once over in the mirror. Her look was complete, simple but elegant.

As Sevyn made her way down the stairs she could already smell Micah's heady cologne. She made a quick detour to the kitchen the moment smoke began to overpower Micah's alluring scent. She found Quinn  standing over the kitchen sink. She was watching the tap water run into the saucepan that was now pitch black.. "What's burning?" Quinn snapped her head in her direction clearly startled by her presence. "I wanted to make dinner but I was on the phone with Caleb and Jessica wasn't paying attention." She groaned.  Sevyn couldn't help the sneer that transitioned over her features the moment her name was mentioned. "She's still here?" Quinn nodded before adding, "You promised you'd be civil, so please?".
"I'll try my best." She grinned, "Anyways, I'm about to leave. how do I look?", She asked.
"You look like a fucking 3 course meal bitch."
"I agree." She giggled. "Anyways, I'm leaving now. See ya!"
"Don't do anything that I would." Quinn teased as Sevyn made her way out the kitchen. I'm really doing this. Everything will be fine. It's just a date. You got this. Debilitating thoughts leads to debilitative emotions, So think positive thoughts.
