Feelings Surfacing

Elsas POV;

It was Friday morning as I rolled out of bed, slumping over as I rubbed the sleepiness from my eyes.

I managed to force myself to take a shower- then get dressed in white jeans with a light blue top.

Anna was already gone- so it's was a lone walk for me in the cold. I grimaced to myself as I exited the house, tucking my face deep into my scarf.

Jack and I had stayed out late, playing on the swigs as we talked. He was actually quite sweet.

Then there was Boomer. Anna told me to fit in. To date a local guy who would make me look good. Who would make me seem more popular- and Boomer fit perfectly. And yet...

I touched my arm where he had grabbed it the other day and sighed. I didn't feel for Boomer like all those other girls did...

I walked on to campus and made my way to my first class room where I was sadly the last to arrive. I sat in the back like had been, and sighed heavily at how tired I seemed to be. Staying out late wasn't a good idea I suppose.

I hadn't noticed that Jack wasn't there; but he was soon shoved into the room by a raging Boomer.

Jack stumbled back, his back colliding with the teachers standing podium. "What are you talking about?!" Jack yelled, throwing his bag onto a seat.

"You walked her home!" boomer yelled furiously, ale itching him quickly. "She's my girlfriend!"

Jack whipped his face, apparently blood had been trickling from his nose. "Maybe she doesn't want to be." He said in a low voice. "And it's not like we did anything. I didn't even hide it from you! You left her there!" Jack straightened up and took a step toward him. "What kind of guy leaves his girl high and dry?" He growled.

Boomer grabbed Jack by the collar of his shirt and shoved him against the wall, "you had no right!"

"Enough!" A large man yelled, bellowing into the room. "Both of you, my office." His voice was so low and deep that it sent chills down my spine.

Boomer glanced at the crowd and noticed I was there- "babe!" He exclaimed, rushing to me and kneeling. "I'm so sorry." He whispered.

I looked up to see Jack looking away from me as he shook his head. I wasn't sure how to feel. I didn't find Boomer very attractive. And he had a horrible personality. But I was starting I think that my feelings were-

"MY OFFICE, MAX BOOMER!" The man yelled furiously, his face becoming red.

Boomer looked to the man and slowly stood up. "I'll talk to you later." He said quietly to me before leaving the room.

Class went by slowly- but before I knew it I was in Magicks class- sitting in the front row- ready to let off some steam.

I head foot steps coming up the stairs just before Jack came in. He had his bag slung over his shoulder, looking down at the floor. His face churned with emotion.

"Jack, are you okay?" I asked softly as he sat down. He looked away from me.

"I'm fine." He muttered.

"What's wrong with your face?" I asked, sliding out of my seat and kneeling in front of his desk. "Jack!" I gasped as I got a closer look.

His eyes was slightly puffy and purple, his lip torn open and slightly bleeding. He grimaced, "don't look at me."

I won't lie, he looked rather attractive- all beat up like that. He looked like a total tough guy. "Why not?" I asked. "It doesn't look that bad."

His eyes stayed on the slope before he let out a long breath. "I don't think we should talk anymore." He said softly.

"What-"

"Boomer disapproves." He stated blandly. "And obviously you aren't leaving him so-" he stood up, "excuse me." and with that, he grabbed his bag and left.

I began to say his name, but Debby set a hand on my shoulder. "Let him go." She said softly. "He needs time to himself."

For the rest of the class, Debby and I played in the snow. We managed to actually have a lot of fun, but right as class ended I was driven back into a state of constant thinking.

What had just happened? Jack wasn't going to talk to me now? That didn't make any sense. Boomer had no right to do anything that he did- I was not his toy.

I didn't want to be his anything...

The dance was tomorrow, and I was stuck going with Boomer. I frowned as I imagined the night playing out.

"Hey!" I heard Max yell from behind me. "I'm glad I got to see you before you left." He smiled faintly at me, catching me right before I'm about to leave. I was so close.

"What's up?" I asked, pushing off my locker.

"Tomorrow's the dance. I just wanted to make sure what our color theme was..." He gave me a small smile. "Look I'm sorry." He said gently. "I get carried away a lot."

I shook my head. "Don't worry about it. And my dress is blue."

"Cool." He said with a small smile. "Then I'll see you tomorrow?"

"I'll meet you here." I nodded and began to walk off.

"Bye babe!" He called out to me, but I didn't acknowledge it. There was no way I could stay with him...

I remembered him flirting the other night on our double date and it just put a crease in my forehead. I sighed and continued home.

I slipped my hand out of my glove and stretched it out. A light snow began to fall. It wasn't like anyone would notice it was me. It was freezing out here- it could easily have been nature.

"Deb told us not to do that out side of school." Jack purred to me.

I jumped, jerking around to see him leaning against a tree.

"What are you doing here?" I yelled. After he said we shouldn't talk anymore.

"Just making sure you got home safely." His eyes were closed as he spoke. "I don't trust him." He said quietly.

"Who?"

"Max." His eyes shot open and flickered to me. "He's going to keep hurting you. That's what he does. And if he finds out I'm talking to you now? He's going to beat the shit out of me again."

Thinking back to when I saw Boomer- he didn't have a scratch on him. "Did you even land one hit on him?"

"I didn't fight him." He shook his head. "If I would have hit him, I would have froze his head on contact..." He gritted his teeth, his jaw noticeably clenching. "Seeing him touch you like that..." He close his eyes and pushed away from the tree. "I'll see you later." He muttered.

"Are you going to be at the dance?" I blurted, taking a step toward him.

He looked back at me over his shoulder, but never answered as he walked away.
