For the first time, my assumptions
About someone's feelings for me
is finally right
But that made it hurt more than all
The wrong assumptions that I made
It's for the best
Is what I tell myself
Because they will never accept us
if ever there was an us
And we'd probably end up both getting hurt
So it's for the best that no one gets hurt
except for me
