The moon was high up, stars twinkled here and there just above the duo sat in the back porch of the brown wooden house. The air outside was colder compared to the warm nights just before, wrapped up in blankets sipping tea, Y/N begins the conversation.
"Human."
Gosha hums beside them, after dinner he had offered them some tea to sip on when they had returned home that evening from the market. Y/N was quiet once Gosha had revealed what they were. "I never knew that." He hears them say before they finish their sentence, "H-How do you kn-now?"
The reptile smiles at their mispronunciation of the word 'know' the reptile looks to Y/N, their fingertips clench the old green mug. "When I was younger, I wanted to become the Beastar." He starts his story off but they interrupt him before he gets to the beginning. "Bee-star?"
His thin eyes watch as Y/N brings their knees up from their dangling off the porch. Their tea is set off to the side and it reminds him of when Legosi would eagerly await a bedtime story. Gosha clears his throat and he leans himself against the pillar behind him where the handmade wind chime dangles from. "They're an animal that unites all others."
"You night?"
'Those words don't make sense together.'
"To bring everyone together." Gosha explains and the human in front of him nods in understanding.
"It wasn't just me who wanted to be the Beastar. Yafya, a black horse was also competing for the role. We became good friends and fought alongside each other, after some time we both wanted to become Beastars together."
A car drives by in the distance to fill the night air with some noise. Gosha continues his story about his journey on becoming a Beastar with Yafya until he fell in love with a female wolf he rescued one night. Ever since then, Gosha and her were in love and started a family. The green scaled man said it was a miracle that she had even gotten pregnant but then Leano was born.
"Legosi's mother?" He nods and says that's a story for another time.
Y/N lets their head tilt into the green mug to sip their cooling tea. "Before I decided to end my journey on pursuing my dream...Yafya and I were patrolling the streets one night. It was snowing and near Rexmas*." He stops for a moment and pokes at a scale on his hand, Gosha swallows before he finishes the memory and wraps the blanket around his shoulders tighter. His eyes are cast down but he can see that his company tucks their feet into their blanket. It was Legosi's with a beetle design.
"We had split up, Yafya went to search on some other part of the neighborhood while I searched through mine. I didn't realize how close I was to that place." The cold-blooded predator spits out with a shiver. Y/N notices Gosha's body language and they too feel a shiver run up their spine. "What place?" They ask with a tight throat.
"The Back Alley Market."
Unknowingly, they flinch at the name as if it were the most frightening thing to ever cross through their blooming vocabulary. Gosha continues his story.
"I saw a pack of lions, the Shishigumi. A fearsome gang that led the back alley community along with four other rivaled gangs. I was just at the entrance of the alley and I could smell something I never had before, I followed the gang and came across a butcher shop." His claws pierce the blanket. Y/N wanted to ask what a butcher shop was but felt too frightened to ask over Gosha's body language clearly showing that he was uncomfortable. Remaining silent and patient for the reptile to continue, he shakes out the rest of his sentence with a heavy breath. "I saw them...there were two of them, pushed out of black van. They looked like death themselves I-"
