It was a week day and Shawn Spencer just walked into the Santa Barbara Police Department looking for something to do because Gus was out of town visiting his grandmother, who ironically just broke both of her hips a few days ago. Shawn looked around and saw that Juliet was sitting at her desk and Lassiter was talking with Chief Vick in her office. He walked over to Juliet and sat on the edge of her desk making the junior detective look up from the case she was working on work.
"Hi Shawn." She says sounding like she was bored out of her mind.
"Hey Jewls" Shawn greets in one of his weird voices trying to lighten the mood a little, but there was something in his voice that just screamed that something was wrong with him.
"...What's wrong?" Juliet asks closing the case file that she was just looking at and focused her full attention on the 'psychic' in front of her.
"What? N-nothing's wrong. Why would you think that?" Shawn rambles like he usually does but this time he sounded more nervous that usual. Juliet sighed knowing that he was stalling so that he doesn't have to tell her what was on his mind so she stood up, taking his hand in the process, and lead them both to the conference room where he could freely speak his mind without anyone listening to the words he says.
"Come on Shawn, I know you better than that. Tell me what's going on with you."
Shawn sighs knowing that he can't keep anything from Juliet and sat down in one of the chairs. He put a hand up to his face to massage his temple thinking about how to say what he had thinking at the moment but then got an idea. He doesn't have to tell her everything, just the most important parts.
"Juliet? Have you ever been deeply in love with someone and not know what would happen if you told them?" Shawn asks in an almost helpless kind of tone. Juliet looked at him with slightly wide eyes because she has never seen Shawn act like this over a guy. Oh, if this hasn't been clear already, Shawn is gay and Juliet is the only one that knows.
"I'm sorry Shawn but I don't really know how you feel." Juliet sympathizes while placing her hand comfortingly on his shoulder before coming to the realization that Shawn is in love with someone and she didn't know.
"You-" Shawn was immediately cut off by Juliet.
"Hold on a second. You're in love with someone and you didn't tell me?!?!"
"Jewls.... I'm not ready to tell you who the guy is yet okay?" Shawn says looking up to meet Juliet's sympathetic gaze, his voice almost in a pleading type of way but yet he still manages to make it sound like he is acting normal (well kind of). "Can you just tell me some advice like you usually do?"
"Alright..." Juliet pauses for a moment to think of some advice to tell Shawn that would make him feel better "Listen Shawn, if you really are as deeply in love with this person as you say that you are, then just tell them exactly how you feel and hope for the best."
"Okay.. Thank you Jewls" Shawn smiles standing up from the chair, Juliet looks at him confused.
"For what exactly?" Juliet questions furrowing her eyebrows.
"For giving me the confidence to do this." Shawn opens the doors and leaves the conference room, trying to keep his head held high. Juliet follows closely behind not knowing what Shawn is doing then her eyes widen slightly, again, when she sees him walking over to Lassiter's desk.
"Hello Lassie." Shawn greets the head detective with a look of nervousness not hidden well in his hazel orbs, Lassiter seemed to notice how nervous Shawn was and looked up from the computer he was just looking at seconds before, with concern written on his face. But the detective quickly put on his mask to hide his feelings for the younger man and stood up from his chair.
"What do you want Spencer?" Lassiter asks in his usual 'annoyed' tone that he wishes that he doesn't have to use on Shawn but if he used any other tone people would think that something was up with him. Shawn winces at he tone of the head detectives voice but brushes it off because if he doesn't confess his feelings now then he might never have the confidence to.
"Just sitting here..." Shawn answers looking at the ground "Hey Lassie?"
Lassiter sighed and starts walking in the other direction towards the file room. Shawn starts to panic slightly when Lassiter starts walking away from him and walks up to him and wraps his hand around the detectives wrist, stopping him from going any farther.
"What?" Lassiter sighs trying to act like he wants to free himself from Shawn's grip even though he really doesn't want to because he like the way Shawn's hand feels on his wrist for some reason. Shawn lets out a shaky breath and decides that it's now or never.
"I'm in love with you." Lassiter froze as soon as those words left Shawn's mouth. He was shocked because he didn't think that Shawn felt the same as he did. But, Shawn took this as a bad sign and let go of Lassiter's wrist, making them both long for the missing contact, he took a few steps back with his facial expression one of worry and sadness. But his expression changed to one of hope when he saw a smile light up Lassiter's face when the detective turned around.
"That's good because I love you too." Lassiter smiles as Shawn lets out a small breath of relief before smiling as bright as the sun.
"Great. I'll meet you here Saturday at seven"
"It's a date!"
