It was the start of a new year. Freshman year. Sadie had just finished 8th grade not so recently due to summer school. Sadie had a somewhat troubled school experience. She constantly ditched classes, talked back to teachers, and never really paid any attention to the lessons. As Sadie grew up going to school she was always different than most people; since she was Latinx, she spoke two languages, tanner than most, and mainly just stuck out. What made it even worse she lived in an all-white neighborhood. Growing up with only white friends was very tough for Sadie she was picked on a lot because sometimes she couldn't understand what was being spoken during class. Sadie wanted a tutor to help her in middle school but since her father didn't have much money so she couldn't so she decided to give up and not try anymore it was the easiest option for her.
Seventh grade was the year that Sadie started making some friends (and not the good kind). They were constantly ditching classes, and not paying attention during class. It turned into an awful habit for Sadie. Every day either 2nd or 6th period she would ditch with her friends and just go and do whatever. Her grades suffered badly. Sadie had D's and F's and if she really tried at times she got a C. That year she did summer school as well.
Eight grade rolled around and she was worst than ever. Sadie's friends wanted her to try weed. Since she is so easily influenced she did. Sadie then got addicted every other day she would smoke two blunts of weed and decided to Juul. Her lungs were suffering very badly and she couldn't breathe after a while. The school nurse examined her and ruled that she had asthma. About two weeks after that she had an asthma attack and it was tough but she had to quit. It was hard at first then she got used to it.
Grayson knew all about this but didn't care at all. The only thing he cared about was making sure he had the money to buy his beer. He didn't even care that she smoked, or was failing school. Grayson paid little to no attention to Sadie (unless he was drunk and wanted to take his anger out on her). The school tried to get involved but it didn't work he faked all the meetings and would physically abuse her every time the school wanted a meeting with him. After the last meeting they had with him, Sadie snuck his phone and blocked the school's number so they couldn't contact him anymore.
