jeongguk disliked school
for it meant
having to give
up on his
precious sleep,
something he wouldn't do
for all the things
in the world.

it was only his mother
who could
possibly make him do
things he would never
even imagine doing.
such was his love
for the woman who
gave birth to him,
made him into
the person he was now.
the aromas
and the warmth she brought
entwined with
a mother's love,
the little moments
when her eyes would
light up
looking at a flower
growing on the pavement,
her excitement on seeing
the way
the light played
upon the path.

In a life
so ordinary,
she was the one who
was extraordinary,
because she made it
that way.
how she turned the mundane
into fascination
and love,
or her belief in
the beauty of
every little thing
made her
jeongguk's angel.

if given a chance,
jeongguk would
never step one foot
inside the big, old,
grey building,
lined with numerous
hallways
and millions of classrooms,
the place they called
school.
yet in his mother's sweet voice
calling him down for breakfast,
her apron patterned
with bunnies (they reminded her
of jeongguk),
the aroma of the
breakfast she made for him,
or of the lunch she was
packing, jeongguk felt
a moment of serenity.
the way she softly
ushered him out
the front door,
ruffling his hair.
or the way she waited for him
to come home,
arms open wide to engulf
her (not so) little bunny
into a hug,
all of it made jeongguk feel
so calm, so loved, so safe.

going to school could never
be hell,
if it meant coming back
home
into his mother's arms.

yet this morning,
jeongguk found
another reason
to endure school,
when he ran into the star boy
in the hallway.

the boy he'd so fondly
observed last night.
jeongguk might've
had a lot of crushes
but this boy was
...different,
jeongguk was sure of it.

the way he softly
blinked
his pretty eyelashes,
looking up into
jeongguk's eyes,
muttering a soft
"sorry"
in a voice...
a voice that jeongguk
didn't see coming,
a voice that filled his entire being.

the boy was a prime example
of duality.

the boy looked soft,
certainly endearing,
at the same time
he looked powerful,
just a stare felt
like it could shift the universe.

his chiselled features
carrying a hint of
adorableness,
the light in his eyes
dancing
with a childlike enthusiasm,
something jeongguk noticed
very often
in his own mother.
but the boy's voice was
like the magma chamber
of a volcano,
deep, golden
and so full.

"it's alright," jeongguk muttered,
a bit taken aback
by the beauty of the boy.
he was a shining star,
shining with
greek god-like visuals,
his rich voice
reverberating through jeongguk
making him feel
a certain type of way.
their hands brushed as they gathered
their fallen books,
jeongguk turning a deep shade
of crimson,
not gone unnoticed
by the boy,
who chuckled softly,
like soft, rolling thunder
that billows across the
dark skies on a stormy night.
a calming tone,
powerful but soft.
jeongguk could hear him speak
all day,
admire him all day.

"i'm taehyung," the boy said,
standing up and holding
his hand out
to shake jeongguk's.
"j-jeongguk," the younger stuttered,
taken aback at the sudden
handshake.
there he went. the same,
soft chuckle,
shaking jeongguk all over,
followed by a smile
so pretty,
so enchanting,
so captivating.
it was rectangular,
showing all his sparkly,
white teeth,
the way his eyes lit up
along with it,
the way his faced morphed
into a baby like happiness.
so cute.

his duality was something,
jeongguk had never seen before.
it made him feel
an odd combination
of emotions,
something he couldn't
describe.
but taehyung had gone
for his heart
in the very first second
since jeongguk had known him.
there  was nothing else,
jeongguk knew. he felt so
whipped,
there was certainly
no other word.

Finally lmao
A bigger chapter :)
Writer's block is honestly such a bitch tho.
Did you like this?

The picture above is Skipping With Stars; I chose it because not only did it show the theme of this book, a starlit sky, but also the childishness, the childlike enthusiasm I've mentioned in this chapter, for both Tae and Gguk's mom :')
