Chapter Two

The Past

"Nandito ka nanaman," nakasimangot  na saad ni Quer.

I'm currently at Quer's house to see Aski. I even brought with me two box of brownies. I plan to give one to Aski. I already practiced the lines I will say and the sweet smile I will show him. The other box is to bribe Quer.

"Aren't you happy that I'm here?" I pouted my lips and did the 'puppy eyes'.

Quer scrunched her nose then rolled her eyes. I chuckled at her reaction.

"As if you're here to see me. Unlucky you, Aski is not here."

"I saw his shoes at the doorstep." I playfully stuck my tongue out.

Quer's playfully rolled her eyes.

Asikiel  Vergoza. He is Quer's cousin. Lagi siyang tambay sa bahay nila kasama ang kapatid ni Quer na si Peire. He lives alone at his condo since his family is at Davao.  He is spending his senior high here in Manila. He probably don't want to spend his weekends alone. Well, all he need to do is to call me to keep him company. Joke. Dalagang Pilipina kaya to.

I met Aski at Quer's birthday party. I was thirteen while he was fifteen that time. We went to Davao since Quer want to celebrate her birthday with their grandma. Quer and I practically grew up together, our mothers are best of friends so we became one. For that very reason, my parents trust the Vergozas so they let me tag along.  

At the party, Aski stand out in the crowd. He was so tall. His almond shaped eyes pierced through my soul. He got a pointed nose and thin, plump lips. He got his guitar and he is playing "Til I met you".

That very line was the one he sang when our eyes met. He also gave out a charming smile captivating my heart. That time,  I thought to myself, he will be mine.

I was magnetized to him. Though his cold aura made me hesitant, it never hinder me to admire him even though it's from a far.

I always pester Quer to update me about him. I also convince my mom and dad to go to Davao during holidays and I'll have an excuse to visit Aski since dad have a partnership with Aski's dad. Sometimes, I will tag along with Quer when she go to Davao.

For the past three years, I've come to know that he is actually very smart. He loves the beach which explains his tanned complexion.  It's also ironic how he loves the beach yet he dislike seafood. He also go to the gym approximately five to six pm. He have this husky voice which made him really good at singing and he's got great skills when it come to playing guitar. He loves reading books about astronomy. He loves astronomy. He is also addicted to me. Joke, haha. He is addicted to the Maze Runner series and Stranger Things. Well, he loves mystery that made me wish I was mysterious but I'm kind of a typical girl.

It's embarrassing that I know a lot about him from stalking and asking question from his cousin. But I can't help myself. I was magnetized. When I've come to know that he is going to study at UST for senior, I strive so hard, which is so not me, to get into UST. When Quer told me, Aski always go to their house during  weekends. I always make excuses to go to their house.
