"Hey Percy?" I heard Annabeth whisper as she shift her position next to me.

"Yeah?" I replied back. I waited but she didn’t reply. I then look at her storm gray eyes, trying to read them. Her eyes and expression are forever a mystery, but not for me. She stared blankly in to the distance, her eyes astray, lips tightly closed as if forcing them, and her hands squeezing mine. I’ve been with her long enough to know what those gestures meant. She’s forcing herself not to cry.

I hugged her closer, keeping her warm as a gush of cold wind from the sea made her shiver a bit.  "Do you want to go back? It’s cold outsi-"

"No... I just... I just want to stay here... with you. Don’t go anywhere Seaweed brain" she said her tears finally falling. She buried her face on my shirt as she sobbed. I pulled her close to me, tucking her head against my chest. I didn’t say any words that could sooth her or any promise that could ease her pain. I know that I can’t keep them anyway, it’s better to be honest to myself and… to her. She knows what needs to be done, she knows what will happen and I want her to be ready for it.

We just sat there together as she cried on me. A few minutes later, she finally fell asleep from crying. I kissed her lips softly and I felt a tear escape from my eyes as it drops to her cheeks.

I looked at the ocean and prayed to my father. "Dad, if I die... No... I WIll die tomorrow." I look at Annabeth's calm sleeping face. I don't want her beautiful eyes to shed tears when I'm gone. Smiles suite’s her more. "I know that my death is needed to kill Gaea, but please dad. In exchange grant me my one last wish. Tomorrow, when I die... Please make Annabeth think that she never loved me. Make her forget all her feelings for me.  I don’t want her to suffer and be in pain. I want her... to be happy. "

Just like that, I hugged Annabeth one last time and carried her to her room. I looked at her sleeping face and kissed her forehead, "Goodbye Annabeth... My wise girl... Please forget about me." I quietly went out of her cabin and went to the big house where Jason, Nico, and Chiron are waiting for me. Their faces are filled with sadness and grief. I forced myself to smile, "Hey what's with the long face?"

"Why does it have to be you Percy? It’s supposed to be me." I look at Jason as he tried averting his eyes from me. "Jason listen, it’s not your fault ok? It’s the prophecy’s fault. Besides you don’t have to worry, I already accepted my cruel faith a long time ago." I said trying to smile. I patted his shoulder and went to Nico.

"Hey Nico" he didn't look at me. He just stared at his shoes. I stepped closer and hugged him. He seems surprised but he didn't say a word. I pulled back and saw that his face is now covered in tears, his hands closed tightly behind him.

"It’s not fair" he shouted "Why do you have to die? First Bianca... then you? Why does everyone who I cared for ends up leaving me?"

I smiled sadly as I patted his head. I will really miss this boy, "Shh... Nothings fair in this world Nico, believe me." he sniffed and nodded his head. I gave him another hug then turned to Chiron

"Uhmmm… I guess this is goodbye old man." I look at Chiron as he nodded. On normal days he would get angry when I called him old man, but not today. “Just keep kicking I guess." I laughed a bit, "and uhmm... thanks for training me." Chiron went closer and snuffled my head.

"Another great hero whom I trained and taught will leave me again." Chiron said sadly, "Goodbye Percy, son of Poseidon" I nodded. The sun started rising and there at the distance I saw Apollo waiting for me. He would be sending me to the place where I would be sacrificed, the place of my death. I waved and said my final goodbye to Jason, Nico, and Chiron. I then stared at Annabeth’s cabin where she is sleeping peacefully. "Goodbye Annabeth." and with that I turned my back from Camp Half Blood and continued forward to my death to save the world... to save everyone that I love.
