More fighting took root not outside the walls, but within them. For not the third time, but the fourth time, the Titans broke through the walls once more. Just as all the other times, there were many casualties and deaths. Many buildings and people alike trampled upon. Much was destroyed this time. Much worse than all the other times the Titans attacked.
It was getting harder and harder for humanity to continuously defend themselves from the threat they hardly understood. Eventually, there's going to come a day that humanity is not ready for another attack. And one day there is going to come a day that the damage becomes far too great.
Kiyomi wobbles as she walks, trying to stay upright but failing miserably at it. She limps as she walks down the streets. The streets that were once filled with so much laughter, and joy... all filled with all kinds of different people. All of it had now vanished... what replaced this once fine sight, was trampled and torn dead bodies.
Even if Titans eat people, many different injuries occur rather than simply being eaten alive. Some people get crushed by the overbearing feet of the giants, some get chewed upon by a Titan, but the monsters grow tired and bored of them and decide to drop them like a child who gets sick of playing with the same old doll over and over...
There were many ways to explain each and every death. Some deaths were delivered to these soilders from self harm and suicide. It was a sad day for all of these people to go... and so many of these faces Kiyomi recognized.
Each person's face, if their face was even remaining, Kiyomi would recognize. Not all faces, but many she did indeed know. And whenever she would come upon a familiar face, their name would ring in the back of her head.
All had names, all had voices, all had families, all had a dream... a dream that they wished so dearly to make a reality. But all these dreams, they all... they... many of these dreams stayed simply that. Dreams.
W-What if... he's among them? But his dream... it can't just stay a dream. That's not allowed. He has to see it. Because... ever since he was a kid... it's what he has always wanted. Because more than anyone else... he deserves to see it. It's his birthright for being born into this world. It's all of ours. Because... we were all born free... weren't we?
Many names and voices continue to ring in Kiyomi's head along with many questions she wished could be answered. Kiyomi hated this. She hated it all. She wanted it to end. All the death. All the blood. All the sacrifice. All the pain. She just wanted it all to disappear like it never even existed. All of it...
Kiyomi, finally losing the last of strength, collapses onto her knees like a light and weightless ragdoll. She allows herself to fall to her knees, and breaths in and out heavy breaths. She wanted to calm down, but couldn't. How can you when you're stuck in such a cruel and hellish world, refusing to show you any mercy?
Kiyomi begins to sob and cry hard as her head hangs in her moment of hopelessness and grief.
How can humanity even hope to defeat such a powerful enemy? It's been like this for a hundred or more years... has any of the fighting up until now been worth it? In the end, will any of it even mean something?
