valentine reus.
"Valentine, I'll be leaving soon!" My brother, Marco, called. I ran downstairs and skipped towards him, my blonde hair swaying behind me.
"Please bring me some food." I begged, letting his arms wrap themselves around my tiny figure.
"Sure. Same as always?" He asked, playing with my blonde hair. I smiled and nodded vigorously.
"Same as always. See you!" And with that, he left. I shut the door and ran towards the couch, switching the television on.
My name is Valentine Reus, and yes, I'm Marco Reus's sister. It was pretty obvious that we were siblings due to the fact that we both had the same hair colour, the same eye colour, and we were always seen together. Some had even confused us as a couple (which made me throw up and laugh for a year).
Being a football player's sister isn't as easy as you thought it would be. I mean, you had to deal with the media, the fake rumours, and the hate. I get hate once in a while, whether it was because they accuse me of using Marco for fame, which is quite stupid because I was his sibling and I had already made a name for myself, and also because they would tell me I was ugly. That was it.
Boys? They had to go through my brother first before they actually got a chance to say "hi" to me. You see, I was a "treasure" to Marco. Eversince our parents had left us, Marco always made sure that I was never to leave his side because he believed that if I was gone, he would have no one left (which was false because we still had our cousins, uncles, and aunts). I've only had 1 boyfriend in my life and it had only lasted for a day because I found out that, that boy had already cheated on me. I'm 21 now and so far, I've been doing good.
Life in Germany was quite boring if you had no friends to talk to, and in my case, life wasn't that boring. I had alot of friends, well actually, they're my brother's friends who then became my friends too because of the common things we share. Yeah sure, it's kind of weid of me to have alot of friends which are boys and not have friends which were girls (excluding my next door neighbour, Marlisa, who was like 10 years younger than me) other than her, I had no other friends who were girls.
Erik Durm was my bestfriend, only because he comes over alot to play Fifa with Marco, and also because he was close to becoming my boyfriend but then Marco didn't agree to it because he thought that it would be awkward to see Erik snog me, so he decided that Erik and I remain friends. It stayed that way for 5 years and counting.
"What should I do?" I thought aloud. Since Erik had gone to practice too, and Marlisa had gone to school, I decided that I'd take a walk around Dortmund.
I put my shoes on and grabbed my coat, I put my coat on and walked outside. The trees were swaying softly and the sky was as blue as it could be. I smiled softly as I approached the town park. I crossed the street safely and ran inside the park. I decided to take a seat on one of the park's benches so I could rest and think for a while.
"Look what the cat dragged in." Someone said, throwing in a small laugh. I turned my head to the right and saw Mario and Ann-Kathrin.
"Hey guys!" I cheered, standing up to give both of them a hug. They laughed and hugged me too.
"How's Marco?" Mario asked. I smiled and poked his chipmunk like cheeks.
"You're so in love with Marco." I teased. Ann-Kathrin smiled and took a seat beside me, Mario following her actions.
"Well, I miss that crybaby" Mario said. I smiled and thought of the time when Marco went home crying because Mario told him that he would leave Borussia Dortmund for Bayern Munchen.
"He's doing fine, he misses you alot though."
"So, any new boys yet?" Ann-Kathrin asked, wiggling her eyebrows at me.
"Ugh, no way! Marco will never allow me to date" I said. Ann-Kathrin laughed and patted my shoulder.
"That's okay, Val. Soon enough, he'll allow you to date."
"I wish!" I threw in a deep sigh and the couple just laughed.
"There are alot of single boys out there." Mario said.
"Nah, I'll just wait for the right time. I don't want Marco yelling at me again."
And for 30 minutes, it had stayed that way. The three of us telling stories and laughing loudly. Sadly, it ended because Ann-Kathrin had to attend an important event and Mario had to attend a seminar. I bid them both goodbye and they did the same.
"Come to Munich soon, okay?"
"Will do, Mario." He nodded and walked back to Ann-Kathrin. I watched them walk away and decided that I should go home too.
My phone rang and I picked it up, seeing that it was from Marco.
"Where are you?" He asked, his tone laced with worry.
"I'm heading home. I saw Mario and Ann-Kathrin in the park, Mario said he misses you and that we should come to Munich soon."
"Shit! I have to meet up with Götze soon. Are you almost home? I can send Erik or Mats to pick you up."
"Actually, can you send Erik to pick me up? Mats is still mad at me after that incident with his laptop."
One time, when Mats came over, I accidently spilled milkshake all over his laptop because Erik pushed me. He got so mad at me that he almost hit me with a vase. Luckily, Marco and Sven had calmed him down. Erik had ran away into my room because he was scared that Mats would blow a fuse.
"Erik's on his way already. And by the way, if Erik tries to hit on you, tell me because I will personally rip his hair out."
"Well okay then, i'll see you later Marco."
"Bye Val."
"Valentine!" Erik called, his car stopping beside me. Well that was fast.
"Hey Erik!" He smiled and nodded towards the front seat. I ran towards the front seat and buckled myself in.
"You look good-
"Shut it, Durm. Wouldn't want to be bald because of Marco, right?" I said, putting my hands up in front of his face, giggling a bit.
"Right." He laughed and revved the engine to life, driving back towards my house.
-
"Yey!" I cheered as Marco handed me a McDonalds bag.
"Thanks for taking her home, Erik." Marco said, giving Erik a bro hug.
"Yeah. Shanks Erik." I said, gobbling on some french fries and a Big Mac.
"No problem. Enjoy Christmas Eve tomorrow, goodbye!" Erik shot me a wink (which Marco had not seen) and left.
"He shot mshe a shwink." I laughed, my mouth still full. (He shot me a wink)
"You are a disgusting person, Valentine." Marco said, shaking his head. I pouted and ran towards him, engulfing him in one of my famous "Valentine squeezes".
"You're going to choke me, Val. Stop." He said, giggling.
I smiled and let go of him. He smiled back and walked towards the tv. I walked towards the receiving area and sat on one of the long couches, still gobbling on my food.
My phone buzzed and I took it out almost immediately.
