Friday had came in a blink of an eye. It was finally the day the cheerleading list was being published.

My grandma had been as excited as I was, and made me a slice of toast, cut in the shape of a star with butter on. I wanted to look nice, in case I received my cheer uniform, so I dug around for something nice. I found a short sleeved, white cropped shirt, some high rise blue ripped jeans and because it was a little bit more colder than usual today, I grabbed my light brown fuzzy jacket. Once I grabbed my backpack, waved goodbye to my grandparents, I left for Blake's.

"I seriously hope your on the squad H!" Blake was more excited than I was. I just laughed beside him.
"Can I come with you to check if you made it?" He grinned.
"Sure! I don't see why not". As we got closer to school, I could feel the tension building inside of me.

Me and Blake walked down the hall to the sports notice board. As we walked past the lockers, I felt eyes on me that hadn't been watching be before. I could hear whispers about my name, following me as I walked.
"Blake!" I whispered.
"Don't worry! It's only about you and Brody" he brushed off. My heart clogged my throat.
"Only about me and Brody! Are you kidding" I lowered my head as red consumed my face.
"Don't be embarrassed, it's a good thing" he smiled. I pulled on my backpack strings.
"Maybe for you! But I don't want this kind of attention" I hissed.
"Come on! I thought you wanted to widen your friendship group" he mimicked.
"Not to the whole school" I rolled my eyes and continued walking.

As we approached the sports board, I could see a group of tall boys stood around it. Blake's face lit up with joy. I kept my head down and continued to walk towards it.
Blake started walking faster, and he started calling my name.
"Harley! I think you made the team!" He knew exactly what he was doing. A smirk forming on his face. And just to my delight, it was Brody and his friends. He looked over to me, then to Blake, then back to me. Then he started walking over to me.

At the same time, Blake rushed back to me.
"You made the team! I'm so happy for you!" He ran and gave me a hug. Usually I would be over the moon that I had made the team. But today was different. Brody was a few feet away and looked confused.
"I was kinda hoping I could be the one to tell you but uh...?" He gestured towards Blake.
"I'm Blake! Harley's younger brother" he grinned. Relief washed over Brody's face.
"Oh!" He ran a hand through his dark hair nervously.
"I'm gonna go find my friends H, are we walking home tonight?" Blake asked.
"Uh no. I'm going to the mall with Add and Mads to get smoothies, your welcome to join us?" I suggested.
"Thanks but I think I'm gonna go skating with a few of the boys" he smiled. We waved goodbye, and I was left alone with Brody and his friends.

"Why don't we walk this way and talk?" He suggested to me. So we walked down to his locker, while his friends went elsewhere.

"I love how you're so nice to your brother" he smiled. I smiled back awkwardly.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I suggested.
"Look, can I get your phone number?" He blurted out. I stood in shock.
"You want my number?" I laughed.
"Yeah!" He laughed back. He pulled his phone out of his back pocket.
"I could pick you and your brother up before school some day, you know to save you walking" I unzipped my jacket pocket, to grab my phone.
"That's sweet of you" I smiled. We exchanged numbers then he walked me to my first class.
"Before you go!" I called and his head snapped back around to face me in an instant.
"Do you know if my friend Addison made the team?" I asked.
"What's her last name?" He replied.
"Bishop" he paused for a minute.
"Uh...yes! She did!" He smiled back to me.
"Did you wanna grab lunch today?" He called to me.
"Uh yeah sure" I replied uneasily.
"Okay cool! I'll meet you outside your locker!" He called as he walked backwards to his class.

I had English, not my favourite subject but it was manageable. I was writing away when my phone buzzed in my pocket. I thought it was Maddy or Addison, asking where I was this morning. But it wasn't. It was Brody. I like your fuzzy jacket. Read the text message, with a bear emoji. I smiled at the text, then replied with I like your varsity jacket with a football emoji. I turned my phone off, then got back to writing.

My next class was social studies, and I had both the girls in there, so I could gossip to them about Brody. But it seemed as if they already knew.
"Harley West! Have you got something to tell us?" Maddy smirked.
"What do you know?" I asked with a giggle.
"Only the fact that Brody Vine waited to tell you personally that you made the squad!" Addison grinned.
"Then he walked you to English!" Maddy added.
"And he asked you to meet up at lunch!" Addison finished.
"Okay you know the full story!" I laughed.
"He also gave me his number and texted me during English" I squealed. They stared in shock.
"No way! Show us!" Addison pulled at my hand. I grabbed my phone from my pocket and handed it to them.
"So you don't mind me having lunch with him today?" I asked, but they were in a trance with my phone.

"Is something wrong?" I asked nervously.
"You need to see this!" Maddy handed me back my phone. I know we don't know each other quite yet, but I was hoping we could go on a date? It's okay if your not ready for that kind of thing but I'm only asking read the message. I gulped as I read it. I started typing unsure if it was the right decision. Sure! We can get to know each other on the date.

I met Brody at my locker.i had no idea how he knew where it was, but I was too nervous to ask him.
"Hey beautiful!" He said as I approached him, my face heating up as he spoke. He laughed when he saw me blushing.
"Hey!" I replied.
"So I though I could take you to get your cheer uniform!" He suggested.
"Seriously! I thought I wouldn't get that until the end of the day?" I gleamed.
"Well your hanging with me, and I do what I like around here" he grinned. I followed him to coach summers office.

Once we arrived he told me to wait outside. He went in and was talking to the coach, for what seemed like forever. Then finally he came out, with coach summers behind him.
"Well hello miss West!" She held out her hand to shake mine. I took it and said hello back.
"You had some serious talent on that field" she smiled.
"Thank you! It was a big step outside of my comfort zone ha ha" I laughed nervously.
"I think Nova has some competition on her team for being the captain" she grinned.
"That is why I am giving you your uniform early! You get the outfit, pom-Pom's and the hair ribbons, you will also get one of the cheer lockers to keep this all in so you don't have to carry it round school" she smiled.
"Here is your key! You have cheer locker number 2, and everything is already inside it" she handed me the key, I thanked her, then rushed off down to the cheer lockers.

"Slow down!" Brody laughed behind me. I finally got there I searched for my locker, then unlocked. Once Brody had caught up he lent against the locker next to mine.
"I was kinda hoping she would have given you number 1, that's my number" he smiled.
I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"What?" He laughed back.
"Your such a cringe" I laughed while looking through my locker. I pulled out my uniform and went to try it on.

I looked in the mirror once it was on, and couldn't stop smiling. I ran into where Brody was sitting to show him.
"Damn!" Was all he could manage. I couldn't help but laugh. He pulled out his phone and took a photo of me.
"Do you mind if I post this on instagram? What's your @?" He asked.
"Let me see first" he showed me the phone. It was a really good photo, I had my hair half up and half down with the hair ribbons, and I looked happy. I smiled at him.
"Your really god at photography! My @ is harleywest all joined, no capitals, no spaces" I smiled. He quickly typed away, then slid his phone back into his pocket. I got changed, then he told me he wanted to take me somewhere.
