Fitting In

Years, and years went by,

and Nova was now about six years old.

Terry and Stella kept her home-schooled

all this time- due to her uniqueness-

but thought it was time she'd be around other children.

They've spoken to multiple child psychologists

about where she should be placed.

And they have all said the same thing-

a special needs school.

Terry and Stella did not think Nova

needed to be placed in a special needs school,

because of her extremely high intelligence-

but the psychologists said otherwise.

They just saw what was on the outside:

a child with an underdeveloped speech issue.

But she was highly developed!

Just,

not in a "normal" way.

She's even gotten told that she was autistic,

and would not be able to fit in with a normal class-

a special needs school was the only alternative.

Nova did not want to be treated like an outcast.

In fact,

she was really enjoying the perks of being a kid.

She has never experienced the "Earth" experience,

so everything was exciting for her-

except for the more negative based, psychological

judgmental labels the psychologists threw onto her.

Unfortunately,

Terry and Stella had no other choice,

but to put Nova into a school for kids

with special needs.

They did not want Nova to think she was weird,

or strange, or even unintelligent.

If anything,

she was by far the most unique,

and intelligent child they have ever met.

Nova understood all of this though,

and decided she'd make the best out of life,

no matter where she went!

And so she did.

It was Nova's first day of first grade,

and surprisingly- she wasn't nervous,

but excited.

She was excited about getting the chance

to be around other children;
