The pervasive and prevailing narrative of our times, constantly reminds us , to transform our supposedly ordinary, boring and mundane lives to something extraordinary and rather meaningful- with their barrage of phrases and advertisements ,asking us to strive more,achieve more, dream more, sell more and so on. And that constantly puts you in a state of frenzied restlessness, making you feel, how meaningless your existence has been,thus far. The simple things in life are no longer things to treasure.You are left or rather drawn to try for more,and more, and more. No matter what, you have ,it always seems so little. And you throw yourselves in to this endless abyss . More sales,more targets, more scores, more awards, more accolades,etc etc as it is never ends and it never suffices. You are made to feel,as if the good earth is not for you;yours is the sky and sky is the limit. Then for sometime you enjoy it and it even even gets exciting . Seldom do you realize the trap you are in . The vicious cycle has begun, but it has no ends . You can't see, as you are already lost in this narrative.
And then something happens. The good little earth no longer let's you to take things for granted. Things change. The show is over. Things slip out . As you begin to realize the ordinary was not so ordinary at all. There was beauty in simplicity. The mundane starts to seem so surreal. You want to go back to good old little ways of life.But haven't you taken them for granted all along . Therefore you are not going to have them back ,until you pay a price. The price you pay, then gradually but,generously allows to realize , that sometimes your wants in life are ,far far less than you have been striving for. As a matter of fact ,you start valuing simple things in life ,that you had always taken so granted for.
The world today,has just given you a jolt ,to realise how brutal it can be in making you understand this simple yet priceless lesson . You want to a put yourself in a path of correcting your course.
And just hope, perhaps, it never too late to count your blessings and treasure your gifts.
