*Derek's POV*

"Derek, shouldn't you be with Stiles?" Deaton asked me, concern clear in his voice.

A wave of guilt washed over me but I let out a sigh and decided to ignore it. I couldn't face Stiles; not before I was prepared for tonight. If I hurt him, I would never be able to forgive myself. This moon was a very rare event so I was uncertain on what was going to happen.

"Full moon tonight," I stated, hoping that Alan Deaton would know what I was referring to.

The veterinarian nodded and replied, "I hope you know what you are doing. You may believe that you are making the correct decision but have you considered all the factors?"

I got annoyed at that. He was close to my mother and I could see why now: they both talked in riddles. They never gave you an answer, they just made you to overthink  every single decision.

"I can't protect Stiles from the freeze fright if I can't protect him from myself," I reasoned, slightly bowing my head in shame. "I wish that I could control it but unfortunately, I don't have that luxury."

"Then don't control it," Deaton suggested as if it was obvious.

I tilted my head, staring at him like he was crazy. At this point, I believed that he was. There were too many factors and I couldn't risk hurting Stiles. He was too valuable to me. Stiles was my everything; my anchor, my mate and my friend. If I lost him because of me, I could never forgive myself. Loosing Paige has already taken a toll on me, I couldn't murder another loved one. Most of my family were burnt alive because I couldn't control myself, and the full moon didn't even have an affect on me.

"No! I refuse to take any chances. If Stiles dies, the pack goes along with it," I yell, my eyes flashing red.

Deaton holds his hands out as if to try and calm me down before arguing, "What about if he freezes to death whilst you are locked in chains? You need to be there for him. You can't just shut him out because you feel like it."

I growled, letting my canines grow. "Just because I feel like it? You have no idea how much I've wanted to tell him! You have no idea what's it like for everyone you love to die because of you! Paige died because I couldn't deal with the fact that she might leave me if she found out that I was a monster. Most of my family died because I trusted a woman who claimed to have feelings for me. Every time I try and fall in love, I end up killing someone. I don't want Stiles to end up like that."

"Derek, you need to calm down," Deaton requested.

"Calm down? Really?" I sarcastically questioned. "Stiles is about to freeze to death and you're telling me to calm down."

"Have you considered all the factors?" Repeated Deaton.

I thought about it for a second. What was he going on about? Did he know something that I didn't?

Storming up to him, I grab his throat and push him against the wall. Glaring at him, I notice the small smirk that rises up his face. I tightened my grip in frustration. It was then when he began to struggle; trying to tear himself free from my grasp. I snarled at him to stop. In return, he gave me a look. It was like he knew exactly what I had to do.

"DEREK, PUT HIM DOWN NOW!" Scott roared behind me.

I released the veterinarian and turned to face my co-alpha. He was standing in the doorway with a face full of disappointment. I let out a low growl in annoyance before I went to sit on the metal table in the centre of the room.

"What the hell were you doing?" Scott snarled.

My nose twitched in frustration but I replied, "He knows how to save Stiles."

"If you had just asked, I would've told you," Deaton reasoned, caressing his bruised neck.

I slammed my hand down on the table, making a bang that was deafening to my ears. I closed my eyes, trying to turn them back to their natural colour. When I opened them, a single tear slide down my cheek. Stiles couldn't die, not on my watch.

"Deaton, how do we save him?" Scott asked politely, completely ignoring me.

"The cure to any werewolf curse," Deaton started, "A mating mark."

*Liam's POV*

I finally felt at peace. Theo was at my side, holding me tightly in his embrace. My head was in the nape of his neck and my hands rested on his chest. Our legs were tangled together, as if we were one. I smiled at the feeling of him running one of his hand through my brown hair and the other caressing my small back. Goosebumps travelled through my skin at every stroke. It smelt like home, and for a second, I wished it was.

My peace was interrupted by a weak knock at the door. I sighed as I reluctantly escaped Theo's embrace. I unintentionally let out a small whine and he looked at me in concern. Theo opened his mouth to say something but another knock on the door cut him off.

"Come in," I requested in a soft voice.

The door opened to reveal Stiles. He had a duvet covering his skinny frame, yet he was still shivering like a wet dog in the winter. Stumbling over to us, he gave us a small smile before jumping  onto the bed. Stiles let out a small grunt whilst I released a girly giggle at his actions.

"How are you guys?" Stiles muttered, his face in a pillow.

"Cold," I respond with a frown on my face.

In response, Theo grabs my waist and pulls my back into his chest. He nuzzles his face into my neck and holds me close. I smile softly at the reaction, warmth returning to my body.

"Well, at least you have Theo," Stiles reasons in disappointment.

"I sure Derek will be back soon," Theo encourages, trying to cheer our pack member up.

"Yeah, I hope so," Stiles replies. "Anyway, whilst I wait, I need answers to two of my questions. First of all, what is a mate?"

"Shit," Theo curses, trying to hide further into my neck.

"Search it up?" I suggest unconfidently.

The human shakes his head before explaining, "You two both know what it means. I heard you taking about it. You said that Derek and I are mates. You also said that I was gay but I'm just going to ignore that for now."

"Stiles, it's really not my place to say," I start, attempting to get him to change the subject.

"You should ask Derek yourself. You'll get a much better answer than we can provide," Theo adds.

I snuggle into him more as thanks. Stiles is only ever patient when he it feeds his curiosity more.

"Okay, fine," He agrees. "You have to answer the next question though."

"Alright," I comply.

"Are you two together?" He questions.

I wait for Theo to answer. I didn't want to admit to myself that Theo and I could never be a thing.

A few seconds past and we had both yet to answer. Theo only hid himself further into my neck. Goosebumps travelled across my body and my heartrate sped up. He then pressed his lips against my jaw.

"Yes," Theo stated.

You all have permission to hate me for ending the chapter there. This book has over 1k views so I wrote another chapter. I'm probably going to try and continue writing this story but updates will probably be slow and inconsistent. I'll try and get another one out soon but I don't know yet. Anyway, thank you so much for the views and baring with me. See ya next time. (I can't be bothered to proof read, sorry!)
