The day starts busy.
I jump out of bed to hear the alarm clock ringing at full volume, to the music of Taylor Swift We are never getting back together. Yes, I know that many will wonder, why do I set alarms with songs knowing that later they become hateful? Honestly, I'm not sure myself. I guess this day I wanted to dawn knowing that all the boys are cretins, they break your heart in the blink of an eye, and I don't want to be deceived by them.
Even though I never had a boyfriend and only gave my first kiss at age 12 in the bottle game. It is the typical thing that usually happens when you want to start integrating more and playing those typical teenage games, or in that pre-teen time.
I take a pink blouse from my closet and a red skirt with white stripes. I take a lock of hair, and brush it carefully as I look in the mirror to check it. I see that next to the nose, one of my great life colleagues has returned. —"Hello, Granite Lord" I wrinkle my nose and snort. "You have chosen a good day to appear, always so punctual," I comment to my sarcastic reflection with a huge forced smile, I remove my middle finger.
Once ready, I go out the door and down the stairs, careful not to stumble upon the disaster that my big and small brothers organized yesterday. All the toys are scattered throughout the house, so I stare down at the ground and kick their toys. —"Gabe and Max, what did I tell you that you should keep your toys in the disaster chest after playing?"
I cross my arms and watch them roll puppy eyes in the distance. I sigh, and roll my eyes. They look so adorable, I can't keep my seriousness for that long. —"Okay, young men, but be careful." People can trip over your toys, if you leave them in between. And you don't want to, or stumble and roll yourself. Or am I wrong? ”Gabe and Max come up to me and hug me. I return the hug. And I smile slowly, feeling awkwardly moved by having brothers, so cute and adorable that I would never get mad at. For more mischief they do. —"Sorry," Max says, —"Happy birthday dear sister." We have made you a handmade gift, I hope you like it. He says with a sincere smile. My mouth opens in surprise, and I smile broadly.
—"Actually, Jessie, Logan and I have contributed more than Max," says Gabe, folding his arms, adjusting his glasses. He wears a blue t-shirt with a drawing of a ninja turtle, like the animation series. I raise an eyebrow and look at Max. —"But I was a great admirer of your talents.—" And besides, I helped to color with brushes. —"That catches my eye and I smile like a fool." —I am surprised that my brothers have taken the trouble to do something for me. I am looking forward to knowing what they have done. "Hello, Kat. Happy birthday, ”
Lizzy speaks from behind me. Giving me a scare of a hundred demons. My heart is racing and I almost fell on top of the twins. —Ups, I'm sorry. I scared you?— I narrow my eyes and smile. Is that question serious? It seems so, because he touches my shoulder with regret.
—"Thank you, do you really believe?" For heaven's sake ... you've scared me to death. She laughs out loud and smiles. —"Typical of me."
That I give you the reason. After that little chat between my brothers, I stayed talking to Lizzy. Apparently my brothers had taken the trouble to make me a birdhouse. What surprise could they bring me? Which, I did not understand well. But, they were explaining to me that tonight I would understand everything. And because my impatience is stronger than I am, I tried to persuade Joey that he'll start gossiping about my surprise, and tonight's gifts. And although it is usually a very easy target to get information, not a single word came out of his mouth. I had to settle for thinking that what I was sure of was that the word bird was key. And of course if it was a house for these.
They also promised me that after blowing out the candles, they would leave to leave the house alone. Therefore, many of the rules that I set last year for this party will not be fulfilled. Perhaps the plan works better than expected.
⏳⏳⏳
Once I arrive at the institute I find everyone around a bulletin board. They seem very interested to see some lists that Professor Charlotte has just published. I go straight to my locker and leave some books so I don't have that much weight in my backpack. Then I close it and to my surprise a voice makes me start. —Hello Katnis. I gulp when I see Andrew Walter behind me. "A-Andrew ... are you talking to me?" "Sure, who else?" -I do not know. You tell me. "Uh ... well, happy birthday." All good? It will be a joke. Did you just congratulate me on my birthday? He himself told my friend that he would not come to my party. And on top of that, he has little shame to congratulate me on my birthday, as if nothing happened. "Thanks, I guess," I say blushing. The buzzer rings indicating that classes are about to start. "Well, see you later," I say, trying to leave. He grabs my arm.
—"What do you mean, see you later?" You forget we're going to the same class, Kat.
I raise a surprised eyebrow. Since when is he so close to me? He just touched my arm.
—Not. Of course not, I mean ... you are always with your friends in class. And...— He places a finger on the temple of my lips. "Well, today will be different." Do you have any problem with it?
My heart is saying no. But my mind can only say yes in every way. I am more than angry. He refuses to come to my party and then he starts talking like we're lifelong friends. This is suspicious. Very suspicious.
—It's okay. As you like. —I said huffing. I entered the classroom and saw all my classmates already sitting at their desks. Lizzy is sitting in the second row next to Emily. Which makes me frown. I thought he would get on with me and not leave Andrew Walter alone. Knowing that I like it and that it will not come to my birthday party. But why would I be mad at this nonsense?
Andrew Walter was talking to me and all he had done was avoid it because I was resentful of him. Maybe he had some other important commitment that he couldn't come for and I had made my own movie.
— “Congratulations Katnis!” Shouts Alex, a boy with brown skinned glasses and a navy hat. I turn around and smile the best I can.
Then the whole class begins to congratulate me, thus drawing the teacher's attention. "Being late on your birthday Miss Katnis?" —I bite my lip nervously. "A good way to start another year, don't you think?" She says sarcastically.
—If sorry Professor Santos. It won't happen again.
I sit in the last row because there are no more places. I put my backpack on the table and start to pay attention to the class. Then someone sits down and puts it on the floor.
—Hears...
—Forgives. Was the seat occupied?— I gasp when I see a boy with curly brown hair in front of me, with a very extravagant appeal.
It looks like something out of an island of Greek Gods.
