"This is empty. You took empty tank?" Kie spoke checking the Suba tanks. All five friends were now on the boat next to the wreck. Blakely sitting at the back sunbathing trying as hard as possible to stay away from the boy who is slowly breaking her.
"I-" John B began but stopped as he had nothing to say. "Okay this one's a quarter full. Its enough for one of us" Kie spoke lifting up the last tank looking at how much air was in it.
"Love it when a plan comes together" Pope spoke almost sounding drained of energy. "What he said but add JJ sucks at the end" Blakely spoke from her spot at the back of the boat.
"Does anybody know how to dive?" Kie questioned the group. No responses made Kie ask again "Anybody?"
"It's kind of a kook sport." JJ spoke looing over at the girl at the back of the boat.
"I read about it." Pope spoke. "Great, Pope read about it." Kie spoke sarcastically. "Someone's gonna die." Blakely added standing up to stand beside the boy who reads about weird things.
"Look y-you put the thing in you mouth and breath. How hard could it be?" JJ spoke. "Well, if you come up too fast, nitrogen gets into your blood, and you get the bends." Pope spoke "Bends like, bend over and..." JJ said demonstrating what bending over would look like. "The bends kill you." Pope cut him off saying. "Right" JJ muttered looking down slightly disappointed.
"I will do it" Blakely stated beginning to take off her clothes. "No!" JJ spoke with authority in his voice. "Why" Blakely said looking over at the boy annoyed. "Because I say so" he said not wanting this conversation to go any further. "Oh, so now you actually care about me and im not some s-" Blakely began to argue with the boy but was interrupted.
"I can- I can dive" John B said raising his hand. "yes!" JJ souted at the same time Blakely shouted "No!" the two gave each other a glare when Kie said "since when can you dive?".
"I'll do it. its fine" John B said looking over at Blakely. "No, its not fine John. Let me do it" Blakely said earning another glare from JJ.
"Let me do some calculations real quick." Pope said whilst beginning to move from the driver's seat causing Blakely to move slightly closer to JJ.
"You serious?" Kie questioned John B, knowing JJ wont let the other girl dive if his life depended on it. She got up an moved over to where Blakely was standing and hugged her. Both the girls needed this hug.
"So that boat's about 30 feet down." Pope began. "So it'll take 25 minutes at that depth." Pope said. "Meaning safety spot at 10 feet" Blakely spoke looking over at Popes notes causing everyone to look at her. "what?" she questioned "I am smart you know" she added shaking her head. "Yeah, 10 feet for two minutes" Pope added to Blakely's knowledge.
Kie began to take her shirt off looking over at the other girl nodding. Blakely understood what she was gonna do and grabbed her own shirt and jumped off the front of the boat with the other girl.
"Uh" John B began to speak after watching the two girls jump off. "What was that all about?" Pope questioned. "I don't know, but I liked it. A lot" JJ chimed in at the end after watching the gorgeous girl jump into the water effortlessly. JJ clears his throat trying to not send of any signals that he felt something for one of the girls and began to talk again "Uh, so..." the other two boys now focusing back onto the issue at hand listen to JJ say "Uh, when you're down there, you look for the cargo hold. You stick this thing inside and you twist and pull, okay?" holding up something to show John B how to open the hold.
The two girls now rise to the surface and could hear JJ say "My dad moves weight back in the day." Causing Pope to respond with "Who didn't".
"Hey, we tied our shirts to the anchor chain about ten feet down," Kie spoke swimming back towards the boat. "That is where you need to do your safety stop" Blakley spoke after, also swimming to the boat. "Cool" John B muttered.
"keep an eye on this." Pope began to show John B how much air was in the tank. "You need to make sure you have enough air to decompress" he added. "okay, how much do I need?" John B questioned. "Unclear. Breath as little as possible." Pope spoke slightly scared for his friend. "Zen. Think zen, you know?" JJ spoke trying to lift the mood a little "Yeah got it" John B spoke getting the rest of the gear on.
Blakely was first to climb onto the boat and Kie following when Pope spoke "Hey, If we get caught in the marsh, we're basically screwed, so... better get a move on".
Shaking her head to get some water off her hair, Blakely walked over to John and said "Bird, be careful" kissing his cheek after. Kie soon followed her move and kissed his cheek. "Diver down?" John B said. "Diver down" Kie replied.
Sliding the mask down his face John B hopped into the water causing Blakely to now feel anxious for her brother. Saluting the group John B began his dive down to the boat.
"Alright." Pope said walking back over to sit down "See ya, dude" JJ added after John B was already under water.
Blakley sat down at the front of the boat, JJ's eyes on her body and was about to get comfy and sunbath when a siren was heard and Pope spoke "Shit. JJ" causing JJ's eyes to now go off the girl's body and look over at the police boat coming towards them.
"Guys, that's the police" JJ spoke "Oh, you gotta be kidding me." Pope spoke sounding annoyed. "Yep, that's the police" JJ spoke again. "Just act fucking normal." Kie spoke flipping her hair back "Easy-peasy" Blakely said now laying down to sunbath not caring about the cop boat.
"Evening, officers." Pope spoke politely. "Evening" The deputy spoke back. "JJ, tie that off" Pope spoke handing the other boats rope to JJ. "Good day matey" Blakely called saluting the cops causing Kie to shake her head at the girl.
"how you kids doing?" The deputy began "you know the marsh is closed?" he added. Two no's were head from the boys and a why from Blakely all at the same time. "we didn't know that" JJ added. "Well, we're conducting a search out here. Boat went down" Deputy said "Oh" Pope mumbled. "See anything?" Deputy questioned. "No" JJ said and Pope also said "no, no boats".
"Where's your friend you always hand with? He here?" Deputy questioned where John B was. "He's working" Kie replied fast.
"I'm gonna check your little boat out" Deputy began stepping aboard. "Sure, don't even ask" Blakely muttered to herself.
"Uh, You got another one?" Deputy questioned holding up a life jacket. "Yeah, Of course. It's in... it's in the hold." JJ spoke slightly stuttering. "Show him" Kie replied jumping up pushing Blakely up also so JJ could show him. "Yeah, here we go." JJ said holding up another life jacket.
Blakely peered over the edge of the boat worried if John B had ran out of air as she did that the Deputy also looked over the end of the boat looking across the water. This made Blakely tense causing JJ to look over and was about to go over when Kie pulled her to sit next to her.
"All right" The deputy began walking back to his own boat. "Let us know if you see anything on your way out" He added turning his boats engine on. "Will do" Pope spoke "We will be gone soon sir" JJ said after Pope. "Yes you will" was the deputy's response speeding his boat away.
"He's definitely out of air." Pope spoke whilst all four friends look over the side of the boat.
