Nightmares

It was four in the morning and I couldn't sleep. I was watching a movie on Netflix though I was hardly paying any attention to it.

I was drifting off to sleep when I heard screaming from another room. Bucky's room.
I quickly grab my gun off my bedside table and rush into his room, ready to shoot anything. That's when I realised there was no physical threat but instead he was having a nightmare, a rather bad one at that.

I rush to his side, placing the gun on his bedside table and gently shaking him awake.
His eyes shoot open and in a split second his metal arm was grasping my throat.

"B-Bucky, its m-me." I gasp out, trying to get him to come to his senses and release me before I pass out.

Realisation hits him and he lets go of me. I take deep breaths as air fills my lungs again.

"Y/n, I'm so sorry." He apologises.

"Don't worry about it." I say casually. "I've had worse things happen."

"No, I feel really bad and-"

"Don't feel bad." I say. "It wasn't your fault. I probably shouldn't've woke you, it was my fault, I freaked you out."

"It wasn't your fault." Buck says quickly.

"Are you okay?" I ask softly after a moment of silence.

"I just about choked the life out of you and you're asking me if I'm okay?"

"You were having a nightmare, of course I'm asking you if you're okay." I say.

"I'm fine." Bucky says, looking away from me.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I ask.

Bucky shakes his head. "No."

"That's fine." I say. "But if you do need someone to talk to just come talk to me."

I walk over to the door.

"Wait." Bucky calls out and I turn to face him. "Would you- would you mind staying here with me tonight?"

"I don't mind." I say with a small shrug, walking back over to him. I've never admitted this to anyone but I have a huge crush on Bucky. I guess its his dark, mysterious personality that draws me in.

"Thanks." He says as I lay down next to him in his bed. He gently places the duvet over me.

Being this close to him was a strange experience. Bucky was usually really closed off and never really let anyone but Steve close to him. But Steve is out on a mission right now, maybe that's why he's letting me close.

I close my eyes and relax.

"Y/n?" I hear Buck ask quietly. I hum in response as I open my eyes. "Could we maybe cuddle?"

"Uh, sure." I say. I move closer to him and he wraps his arms around me. I rest my head on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat. We were both really tense at first but soon relax, enjoying the feeling of being together.

"Thank you." Bucky whispers after a while.

"What for?" I ask.

"Being here for me." Bucky answers. "It means a lot to me."

"Well, what are friends for?" I swear Bucky tenses slightly when I say friends. Does he not think of us as friends? No, I'm just being weird and paranoid. Why would you hug someone if they weren't your friend?

"Can I tell you something?" He asks.

"Anything."

"I like you Y/n." He says. I hear his heartbeat quicken.

"In what way?" I ask, not wanting to get my hopes up.

"In a more than friends way." He answers. "I really like you. But I understand if you don't feel the same way I just-"

I cut him off by pressing a small kiss to his lips.

"I like you too." I say quietly. A smile appears on his face and his eyes light up.

"Well then, how about me and you go out for dinner tonight?" Bucky suggests.

"I'd love to." I say.

That was short, cringey and ended abruptly. I tried.
Also, like my HP one shot book, feel free to request situations with Bucky and I will try my best to write them.
