3 weeks until graduation

I stretched kicking the covers off me.

Settling back into the sheets I rolled over expecting to be met with the warm body of my soon to be husband.

My arm fell onto the sheets softly and I realized that Benji was in fact gone.

I picked my head up squinting past the light seeing nobody there. His side of the bed was made. The sheets pulled against the head board and the pillow fluffed.

Blowing a curl out of my face I sat up.

Where is Benji?

"Benji?" I called out.

He was gone. On my birthday.

I turn 18 today.

"Fucking perfect." I mumbled getting out of bed.

I got up throwing some clothes on. I peeked into the bathroom and nobody was there either.

I opened the door to our bedroom and stood at the top of the stairs. Not in the kitchen.

Where was he?

I went back into the bedroom and looked at my phone hoping there would be a text telling me where he had gone.

There was just a single text from him.

good morning sweetheart :) im sorry i wasn't there when you woke up. but i have a surprise for you! follow the string ;)

I closed the app and set my phone in my lap.

What string?

I got up and went to the stairs again. to my surprise there was in fact a red string taped to the top of the steps.

I let a smile play on my lips and I followed it downstairs. It lead to the door. I opened the door and a bouquet of flowers fell gently to the floor.

I smiled and picked it up reading the card. 'Flowers that are almost as beautiful as you. I love you. ~Benjamin'

I brought my nose to the petals and inhaled the sweet scent of the bouquet. The perfect mix of sweet and bitter like nature itself.

I carried the bouquet down the hall and the string led to the elevator.

I hit the button making the doors open and found a teddy bear sitting on the ground with a box of chocolate.

I picked it up and read the note attached to the bear. 'If you ever need to cuddle anything and I'm not around. Also, the chocolates may be sweet, but not as sweet as you. ~Benjamin'

I blushed and followed the red string to find it taped next to the button which led to the bar.

Hitting it I found myself biting my lip excitedly to see what was behind the two doors.

When the ding sounded I clutched the gifts tightly in my arms as the doors opened to a dark room.

As soon as I stepped out the lights came on blinding me for a second and people jumped out from any hiding place possible holding their arms up in cheers.

"SURPRISE!" Was sounded everywhere throughout the room and I felt myself smiling widely from the whole presentation.

"Oh my god. Guys." I covered my mouth and Benji walked over from his hiding place behind the bar.
