While the boys tried to calm themselves from their little trick, something struck Katherine, something that she had forgotten.
-Guys, isn't today the day that the vaccination happened six years ago?
All of a sudden, everyone's faces turned to her, turning gloomy from the realization.
-I remember the pork and mashed potatoes that we got that day were amazing.
-Branton, that's not what we want to remember!
Stella told him, sitting down on the empty sofa. He slowly joined her, deep in thought. In the silence, Jack suddenly mentioned:
-Don't forget the salad.
Everyone chuckled a little, but it didn't last long.
-Does anyone miss Sarah?
Stella said, looking at the others with a little smile on her face. They nodded in agreement.
-I'd like to visit her.
Katherine said completely in thought, but Jack thought it was a fantastic idea.
-Why don't we ask? Maybe Greg will let us go.
Everyone gasped.
-What?
-That's insane.
Akilah immediately told him, basically answering for the rest of them.
-Not really. We don't know what he would say. Maybe he would let us go.
Before they could say anymore, there was a knock on the door.
-Time for your special training.
Judith called out to them, shocking them how much time had actually passed since lunch. They walked out the door and through the hallways into separate training rooms. Each had a label on them. Jack's read:
Jack Farlow:
-Bullet Proof
-Force Field Projection
-Hard Light Constructs
-Sharpshooting
-Super Hearing
Branton's was obviously very different.
Branton Carter:
-Pysokinesis
-Super Strength
-Heat Vision
-Super Speed
-Steel Skin
Katherine's label was like this:
Katherine Smith:
-Telekinesis
-Telepathy
-Mind Control
-Teleportation
-Psionic Blasts
Then there was Stella's.
Stella Hanes:
-Atmokinesis
-Flight
-Invisibility
-Healing
-Danger Warning
And lastly was Akilah.
Akilah Parson:
-Electrokinesis
-Super Intelligence
-Electric Blasts
-X-Ray Vision
-Concussive Blasts
Each of their training rooms had special equipment. Jacks had guns and bows, Brantons room was fireproof, Katherine had many different random objects, Stella had plants and Akilah had electrical devices. Little different from normal training rooms. The only thing they really hated about being at the facility were the high-tech bracelets that they had to wear. They would prevent them from using their abilities, and they couldn't take them off. Only when they would do their special training would their trainers take them off. After that they would put them on their wrists again. This is probably the reason why Branton hadn't burned the entire place to the ground. After a couple of hours training with their abilities, the bracelets were put back on their wrists and they returned to the kitchen for dinner. Only Mac&Cheese was made by the cooks, but it was good enough for the kids. Funnily enough, Gregory decided to join them.
-So, kids. How did training go today?
-I think it went alright.
Akilah said, stuffing a spoon of food into her mouth.
-We've been meaning to ask you something.
Katherine suddenly blurted out, catching the others by surprise. Their eyes seemed to pop out of their heads, and Stella shook hers.
-Oh really? And what would that be?
He asked, sitting down at the table next to Jack.
-Well...
Jack didn't know what to do. It was his idea, wasn't it.
-We would like to go visit the Uthington Orphanage.
He just said it, and everyone feared the consequences. What in the world would he answer? Gregory took a deep breath in consideration, while the others only stared at him in silence, expect for Akilah who was enjoying her food maybe a little too much.
-Where did you get this idea?
They realized he was trying his very hardest not to scream at them.
-We were talking and realized that today would be six years since were brought here, and we would like to visit our old home for the sake of nostalgia.
Katherine answered, helping Jack to convince him. She saw he was grateful for her help.
-Is that the only reason?
Everyone nodded in desperation. They wanted an answer, now. Another breath was taken by Gregory, and he finally gave in.
-Alright, but only for a few hours. I want you back before 8:00 o'clock. Got it?
Large smiles grew on the kids faces as they agreed to the condition. Quickly, they finished their dinner. After such a long time they would finally see Miss Sarah again, or so they hoped.
