[06] THE FIRST STEP

HAJIME WENT ON as if the other day never happened, not even sparing a glance to the blonde an entire two days. After breaking ties with Kaminari, she decided to just treat him like everyone else. Pretend and ignore, refuse his attempts of salvaging whatever relationship they barely had form completely dissolving.

It was the end of the day already, having finished eating dinner with Todoroki and Iida just a few minutes ago. Hajime still haven't texted Todoroki after Kaminari got his phone number, not quite sure how to strike up a conversation with him so blatantly. For some reason, it made her nervous. It's been forever since she got nervous for just a stupid text message, or just thinking of a boy in this light making her skin crawl. It was driving Hajime up the walls, the anxiety and stress of the situation she put herself in making her go to her room earlier that night.

From his own table surrounded by his friends, Kaminari watched with a sorrow look in his eyes as Hajime left the common area. "Hey, you good?" Sero asked, causing him to come back to reality.

He plasters on a grin. "Yeah of course."

Sero exchanges a worried look with Mina, the pink-haired girl only focused on Kaminari. They weren't really sure about Bakugo and Kirishima, but they've both noticed a damper on the blonde's mood. He seemed more distracted than usual, zoning out in the middle of conversations and gazing into the distance.

"Where did Hajime go?" Uraraka asked, her name making Kaminari's ears perk up.

"She said she wasn't feeling very well, so she went to bed for the night," Todoroki responded, the brunette frowning in return.

"Oh, well I guess I'll just pass by—"

"I can go." All three of them, including Mina and Sero, turn around at Kaminari. He clears his throat and says, "I mean... I'm done eating and we're on the same floor so..."

Uraraka walks over to him, handing over her notebook. "If you don't mind, she left before I can give her my notes."

"It's fine, I don't mind at all." Kaminari takes the book with a small smile, pushing in his chair before heading to the elevators.

He's been worried ever since she walked away from him, her words still fresh in his mind. He convinced himself that nobody should be left alone, not even Hajime. Even if she was avoiding him quite obviously.

Not many seemed to have noticed Hajime's change of mood, everyone else just used to the fake smile she plastered on around them. But Kaminari was starting to get a grasp on her small habits, at least the ones she's managed to show. He just wanted to make sure you were alright at least, even if she didn't want anything to do with him anymore.
